Job Title: Apigee Design & Implementation Engineer
Location: Remote
Duration: 3-6 Months
Role Summary: We seek an experienced engineer specializing in API management with expertise in Google Apigee. The individual will be responsible for designing, implementing, and integrating Apigee solutions within a predominantly GCP environment, potentially interfacing with ancillary AWS services. This role involves collaborating closely with client stakeholders, security teams, and Google support to ensure secure, scalable, and efficient API exposure to external consumers.
Key Responsibilities:
β’ Lead the architecture, design, and implementation of Apigee API Management platform on GCP.
β’ Collaborate with client teams to understand business requirements and translate them into technical Apigee solutions.
β’ Design, configure, and implement API proxies, security policies, and access controls.
β’ Conduct integration of Apigee with existing client environments (primarily GCP, with some AWS services).
β’ Assist in the development and implementation of API lifecycle management processes.
β’ Work closely with security assessment teams to ensure compliance and secure design practices.
β’ Provide technical documentation and knowledge transfer to operational teams.
β’ Support validation of Apigee implementation through testing and troubleshooting activities.
Required Skills and Experience:
β’ 3+ years hands-on experience designing and implementing solutions with Apigee API Management.
β’ Strong experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and familiarity with AWS environments.
β’ Proven ability in designing and implementing secure, robust API gateways and related security practices.
β’ Experience with OAuth, JWT, API key management, and other security standards.
β’ Understanding of API lifecycle management, governance, and versioning practices.
β’ Familiarity with infrastructure automation and CI/CD principles (Terraform, Jenkins, Git).
β’ Experience working with application monitoring and analytics within Apigee.
β’ Excellent communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate technical concepts and engage stakeholders at various levels.
β’ Ability to independently manage engagements, interact with client technical teams, and coordinate with internal stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications:
β’ Google Cloud certifications, particularly Apigee API / Security Engineer or Cloud Architect.
β’ Experience conducting or participating in security assessments of APIs.
β’ Background or familiarity with hybrid or multi-cloud architectures (GCP/AWS).
β’ Experience with ancillary GCP services such as Cloud IAM, Cloud Armor, Cloud Logging, and Cloud Monitoring.
