A early stage, scaling Edtech business is actively looking for a contract AI Engineer to help them build next-gen assessment systems.
You’ll design and ship LLM-powered features that make faster, fairer, and more intelligent assessments from multimodal workflows and automated scoring to adaptive feedback and guardrails for reliability.
Being part of a small, agile team, you’ll have freedom to make technical calls, prototype fast, and shape how we deliver scalable AI assessment tools.
What you’ll do:
• Build and optimise LLM workflows, APIs, and backend services
• Create evaluation pipelines, datasets, and regression tests
• Prototype agent-based tools and multimodal workflows (text, audio, video, images)
• Instrument, monitor, and safeguard AI systems in production
• Collaborate with developers and domain experts to shape architecture
What we’re looking for:
• Commercial hands-on experience in backend development and AI engineering
• Strong Python + API development skills
• Hands-on LLM and agentic workflow experience (LangChain, LangGraph, etc.)
• Proven record tuning models, benchmarking, and shipping AI features
• Cloud deployment (AWS/Azure) and MLOps tooling experience
Nice to have:
• EdTech or assessment background
• Experience with speech-to-text, computer vision, or semantic search
This is a 3 day a week contract, so please only apply if this is something you are happy to commit to.
