Role description
• Job Title: Software Engineer II – Research Incubation (Wearables / AI / AR) • Location: Redmond, WA • Duration: 12 months (possibility of extension) • Pay Rate: $70-$75/hr on w2 About the Role: • Client's Research Incubation team is seeking a talented Software Engineer to help develop the next generation of intelligent wearable experiences. This team focuses on delivering AI models that can perceive and interpret human behavior and actions through wearable devices. You'll work closely with machine learning researchers, hardware engineers, and designers to build and deploy advanced models that power seamless and intuitive user interactions on smartglasses and related platforms. Key Responsibilities: • Develop and maintain software systems for research prototypes running on cascaded edge-device and cloud compute architectures. • Collaborate with designers and prototypers to create interactive experiences across smartglasses, mobile, and cloud platforms. • Partner with machine learning engineers and researchers to integrate ML models into the prototype system. • Support ongoing development by maintaining and updating prototype systems as ML models and user experiences evolve. Required Skills & Experience • Strong experience in Android development for edge devices such as smartglasses or smartphones. • Proficiency in C/C++ and Python (knowledge of Java or C# is a plus). • Solid understanding of software architecture for hybrid edge/cloud environments. • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills. • Proven ability to work in a fast-paced research and prototyping environment. Preferred Qualifications • Experience integrating computer vision or machine learning models (e.g., hand or gesture tracking) in real-time systems. • Hands-on experience developing on Aria glasses or similar smartglasses platforms. • Background in real-time 3D development for AR/VR using Unity or Unreal Engine. • Ability to integrate multiple data streams into Unity to enable rapid prototyping. • Strong 3D visualization skills and understanding of user experiences for wearable interfaces. • Experience integrating Large Language Models (LLMs) such as LLaMA into applications. Education • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field — or equivalent work experience.
