Role description
Title: Artificial Intelligence (AI) Architect Location: Remote Terms of Employment • W2 Contract, 12 Months (Likely Extension) • This position is primarily remote. Candidates must reside a commutable distance to Reston, VA to consider working onsite roughly six times per year for PI Planning purposes. This includes individuals up and down the East Coast. Travel would be at the expense of the individual. Overview & Responsibilities Work with a leading organization to expand its Artificial Intelligence portfolio. We are seeking a senior AI Architect to join a high-performing team. In this role, you will be the strategic designer for new AI applications. You will define the end-to-end solution – from the LLMs and architecture to the vector databases and prompting strategies – and then guide our data scientists and engineers as they build it. This is a critical leadership role for someone who is passionate about both high-level design and driving solutions in a modern AWS environment. You will… • Design and define the complete technical solution and approach for new AI applications. • Evaluate and select the appropriate components for solutions, including LLMs, system architecture, and prompting techniques. • Determine the optimal data storage solutions for AI applications, including AWS vector databases (Kendra) and relational databases (Aurora). • Architect solutions leveraging the AWS AI/ML stack, with a focus on services like AWS Bedrock and SageMaker. • Act as a vocal leader and technical driver, guiding data science teams and working with multiple stakeholders to deliver on projects. Required Qualifications • Significant professional background in Data Science and AI. • Proven experience as an AI Architect or a Lead Data Scientist who has transitioned into a design and architecture-focused role. • A minimum of 2-3 years of experience designing solutions in an AWS environment. • Direct experience with key AWS AI/ML services, particularly AWS Bedrock and SageMaker. • Experience making architectural decisions regarding data storage (e.g., Vector DBs vs. Relational DBs). • Must be a "vocal leader" with exceptional communication skills and a proven ability to drive solutions and lead technical teams.
