We are seeking an Associate Fraud Strategy Data Scientist to join a dynamic Fraud Risk Strategy team. This is a high-impact role for someone passionate about using data science and analytics to tackle real-world fraud challenges in fast-paced digital environments.
The role is a 12-month contract, supporting critical initiatives across fraud detection, loss mitigation, and risk strategy. Ideal candidates will be local to the San Jose area for a hybrid work arrangement, though remote candidates may be considered if local options are unavailable.
Key Responsibilities
• Design and implement rules and strategies to detect and mitigate fraud
• Analyze large datasets to uncover fraud patterns and trends
• Develop Python scripts and predictive models to support fraud mitigation strategies
• Create dashboards and visualizations to monitor key performance indicators using tools like Tableau and AWS Quicksight
• Collaborate with product and engineering teams to improve control capabilities and integrate fraud solutions at scale
• Present findings and strategic recommendations to business stakeholders and leadership
• Lead investigations into complex or novel fraud cases and identify root causes
Required Qualifications
• Up to 2 years of experience in risk analytics, data science, or fraud-related analytics within industries such as eCommerce, online payments, or user risk/trust
• Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Analytics, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related field
• Strong proficiency in SQL and Python (including data science libraries)
• Experience with large datasets and statistical modeling techniques
• Proficiency in data visualization tools such as Tableau and AWS Quicksight
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to translate complex data insights into actionable business recommendations
• Comfortable navigating ambiguity and working toward data-driven, goal-oriented outcomes
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience working in fraud strategy, investigations, or payments risk
• Familiarity with fraud typologies and fraud detection systems
• Exposure to machine learning models in a fraud or risk context
• Experience with AWS tools and infrastructure
• Project management skills and the ability to work cross-functionally with stakeholders
