We are seeking a highly skilled Automation and DevOps Engineer / Java/JEE Developer with strong experience in WebSphere and Oracle environments. The candidate will be responsible for modernizing legacy Java/JEE applications, converting Eclipse/RAD-based projects to Maven, migrating projects to GitHub, and implementing CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions. The role also includes upgrading applications running on WebSphere 8.5.5, removing legacy Internet Explorer 11 (IE11) dependencies, and automating deployments to IBM WebSphere Application Server. Key Responsibilities: • Analyze and convert existing Java/JEE applications from Eclipse/RAD to Maven-based projects. • Upgrade legacy applications deployed on IBM WebSphere 8.5.5 to newer supported versions. • Identify and remove IE11-specific code and configurations to support modern browser standards. • Migrate source code to GitHub and manage repositories using Git best practices. • Design and implement CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions for automated build and deployment. • Automate deployments to WebSphere Application Server using Unix shell and Jython scripts. • Work closely with the Automation and Operations teams to ensure smooth application modernization. • Troubleshoot deployment and runtime issues and support Oracle-based back-end integration. Required Skills and Experience: • Java (Core and EE): 10+ years • Java EE (J2EE) Frameworks: 10+ years • Git Repository Management: 10+ years • GitHub Actions: 5+ years • IBM WebSphere Application Server (8.5.5 and above): 8+ years • Oracle Database integration: Strong experience required • Unix/Linux Bash Scripting: 8+ years • Jython Scripting: 5+ years • Experience removing legacy IE11 settings and dependencies Desired Skills: • Maven Build Tool: 10 years (preferred) • Experience with wsadmin scripting and WebSphere admin tasks • Familiarity with DevOps, CI/CD, and Infrastructure as Code practices • Exposure to Docker, Ansible, or other automation/configuration tools is a plus Education: • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, Engineering, or equivalent experience
