Job Description:
One of our large Pharmaceutical clients is actively hiring for a Software Architect to join their project team for a 12-month engagement. This person will be part of multi-disciplinary team (hardware engineering, software engineering, project managers) taking a manual semi automation experimental process and turning into an automation scheduling software. The successful candidate for this role will gather requirements, identify solutions, and lead implementation of automation scheduling and orchestration software enabling integrated platforms to achieve RTechβs key scientific objectives. As a member of the team delivering integrated automation to scale both biology and data generation, the Software Architect will serve as subject matter expert for software that drives the clients physical lab automation. This role will work in partnership with RTech science lines and other teams within RTech Automation to design and embed fit-for-purpose systems. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of automation system design and implementation, ensuring alignment with both current and future technological and scientific advancements within the biotech or pharmaceutical sector.
Duties:
β’ Collaborate with automation hardware architects, research leaders, scientists, IT and engineering teams to establish requirements and develop comprehensive automation software solutions in partnership with integration vendors to support the clients research objectives.
β’ Deliver and embed reliable, scalable, and secure automation software solutions to accelerate research, adhering to industry best practices and safety requirements.
β’ Design and apply automation software to existing research platforms, ensuring seamless data flow and system interoperability.
β’ Develop and maintain software documentation for integrated automation platforms.
Required Skills & Experience
β’ Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Life Sciences, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
β’ A minimum of 5 years of experience in lab automation with a portion of that time focused on application of industry-standard scheduling software.
β’ Experience with system integration, including commercial scheduling software (such as Momentum, Cellario, and Green Button Go), APIs, middleware, and data exchange protocols.
β’ Experience with scripting liquid handling platforms (such as Tecan, Hamilton etc)
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
β’ Familiarity with programming languages such as Python, R, C#, or Java, and experience with scripting for automation.
β’ Experience with cloud computing platforms and services (e.g. GCP, AWS, Azure)
Compensation:
$50.00/hr to $65.00/hr.
Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education.
