Role description
Job Title: Senior AWS Cloud Developer
Job Location: Dallas, TX (Remote with Travel)
About the Role
Weβre hiring a Senior AWS Cloud Developer to join our long-standing engineering team, driving critical cloud initiatives for a major financial services platform. This is a strategic, hands-on engineering role with an emphasis on cloud-native development, infrastructure as code, and end-to-end system ownership.
The successful candidate will bring deep technical expertise across AWS, backend services, infrastructure, and CI/CD pipelines, along with a strong sense of initiative, independence, and maturity. Will work on long-term projects focused on stability and scalability β not short-term migrations or lift-and-shift efforts.
Weβre looking for someone who can contribute immediately while also coaching others, owning production support, and thriving in environments where requirements are evolving and technical leadership is expected.
Required Technical Skills
β’ 10+ years of software engineering experience, with a heavy backend focus.
β’ 5+ years of hands-on AWS cloud engineering experience
β’ AWS certifications (Solutions Architect Professional or DevOps Engineer Professional preferred)
β’ Extensive AWS development experience:
β’ Lambda (Python/Java)
β’ S3
β’ API Gateway
β’ Step Functions
β’ SNS/SQS
β’ Caches and event systems (REDIS, KAFKA)
β’ DynamoDB, DocumentDB, MongoDB, SQL
β’ Java Backend Development with Microservices and Spring Boot
β’ API development and integration (understanding API specs and design)
β’ Strong Infrastructure as Code (IaC) background using Terraform with multiple modules
β’ DevOps fluency: experience contributing to and maintaining CI/CD pipelines, security practices, and infrastructure provisioning.
β’ Proficiency in scripting languages (Python)
β’ Knowledge of CI/CD tools (GitLab CI)
β’ Understanding of networking concepts (VPC, subnets, security groups, load balancers)
β’ Experience with monitoring and logging tools (CloudWatch, ELK stack, Grafana, Datadog, X-Ray)
β’ Experience with Postman for API/integration testing and automation
β’ Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
β’ Experience in enterprise cloud environments
