Role description
Optomi, in partnership with a leading national healthcare provider, is seeking an AWS Connect Engineer to join their IT team in Addison, TX. This company is undergoing a major technology transformation as they spin off from their parent organization and bring all corporate applications in-house. With a growing demand for new features, custom integrations, and scalable cloud solutions, this team needs additional engineering talent to help build, optimize, and lead the future of their AWS-based contact center platform. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to greenfield development, implement best practices, and play a pivotal role in scaling systems that directly impact patient care and customer experience. Experience of the Right Candidate • 3+ years of experience in software development, with hands-on work in AWS Connect and cloud-based applications. • Strong expertise with AWS services such as Lambda, DynamoDB, API Gateway, CloudWatch, S3, SNS, and SQS. • Background in building and maintaining APIs for real-time data integration between systems. • Proficiency with backend development using Java, Node.js, Python, or C#. • Familiarity with modern software development practices (Agile, CI/CD, automation with Jenkins or AWS CodePipeline). • Prior experience migrating systems or infrastructure into AWS cloud environments is highly desirable. • Healthcare or HIPAA-related compliance experience is a plus, though not required. • For more senior-level consideration (Engineer III), 8+ years overall AWS experience with leadership capabilities, process creation, and the ability to set technical direction. • Strong communication skills and a confident personality—able to voice opinions, influence decisions, and help define team processes. Responsibilities of the Right Candidate • Support and enhance AWS Connect-based solutions that power the company’s customer support and contact center functions. • Develop and optimize chatbots and call-routing systems that integrate with call center agents, improving efficiency and customer experience. • Manage API integrations with external databases and services, including data ingestion into DynamoDB. • Oversee deployments and build pipelines, moving from Jenkins to AWS CodePipeline as part of the migration. • Contribute to the migration of systems and databases from on-premises environments (including Oracle) into AWS cloud solutions. • Collaborate with existing mid-level engineers to scale applications and processes as demand grows. • Help establish development best practices, documentation, and processes as the team transitions from parent-company support to in-house ownership. • Provide ongoing monitoring, troubleshooting, and production support using CloudWatch, Dynatrace, and logging tools. • Lead by example in technical problem solving, knowledge sharing, and setting standards for future engineers on the team.
