The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in cloud-based data engineering, hands-on experience with AWS native services, and a solid understanding of data lake, data warehouse, and real-time streaming architectures.

Job Description:
We are hiring an experienced AWS Data Engineer to work for us as our direct, W2 salaried or hourly employee to join our team. This candidate will support data lake implementation. The role will design and build the infrastructure and pipelines that enable organizations to collect, store, process, and analyze large volumes of structured and unstructured data efficiently and securely. This qualified candidate will responsible for the end-to-end data lifecycle, from ingestion and transformation to storage and delivery for analytics, machine learning, and operational systems. They ensure data is reliable, high-quality, scalable, and accessible for business and technical stakeholders.
You will:
Data Pipeline, Integration & Transformation
• Design and develop scalable ETL/ELT workflows using AWS-native tools (e.g., Glue, S3, Redshift, Athena).
• Automate both batch and real-time streaming data pipelines using services such as Kinesis, MSK, Lambda, EMR.
• Perform data cleansing, enrichment, normalization, and transformation to support analytics and machine learning use cases.
• Optimize pipeline and SQL performance, ensuring fault tolerance and cost-efficiency.
Data Architecture & Storage
• Design and implement data architecture across data lakes, data warehouses, and lakehouses.
• Optimize storage strategies including partitioning, indexing, and schema design for performance and cost control.
• Integrate data from diverse sources including databases, APIs, IoT devices, and third-party systems.
Collaboration & Documentation
• Partner with Data Scientists, BI Developers, and Analysts to deliver clean, trusted, and well-structured data.
• Document data pipelines, infrastructure components, and governance processes for ongoing support and maintenance.
• Train internal teams to ensure effective knowledge transfer and operational readiness.
Required Skills and Experience:
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field.
• 3–7+ years of professional experience in data engineering, preferably within cloud environments.
• Proficiency in SQL and Python or Scala for data manipulation and processing.
• Strong experience with AWS services, including but not limited to:
• Storage & Processing: S3, Glue, Redshift, Athena, EMR
• Streaming & Orchestration: Kinesis, MSK, Lambda, Step Functions
• Solid understanding of data lake architectures, data modeling, and ETL/ELT design.
Desired Skills and Experience:
• Experience working in or with utilities or energy industry data.
• Knowledge of utility data domains: customer information, meter data, grid and asset data, outage/work management.
• Understanding of CIM (Common Information Model) standards and utility integration frameworks.
Soft Skills & Competencies
• Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex data integration issues.
• Excellent communication skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Team-oriented mindset with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
