Database & Migration Specialist – AWS / GKE to ECS Location: Remote Job Type: Contract] Position Summary We are seeking a skilled Database and Migration Specialist with deep expertise in AWS DMS, MySQL/RDS performance optimization, and large-scale container migrations, particularly from Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE) to Amazon ECS. This role is ideal for a hands-on engineer with strong cloud migration experience and a deep understanding of database architecture and performance tuning in AWS. Key Responsibilities • AWS DMS Expertise: Plan and execute complex database migrations using AWS Database Migration Service (DMS), including heterogeneous and homogeneous database transitions. • Database Optimization: Tune and optimize MySQL and Amazon RDS instances for performance, scalability, and reliability. • Container Migration: Lead large-scale container workload migrations from GKE to ECS, including task definitions, networking, logging, and service orchestration. • Infrastructure Support: Collaborate with DevOps and application teams to support end-to-end migration and refactoring initiatives across cloud environments. • Performance Monitoring: Set up metrics, alerts, and logging for migrated services to ensure optimal health and uptime post-migration. Required Skills • Strong hands-on experience with AWS DMS (Database Migration Service) • Advanced knowledge of MySQL and Amazon RDS optimization and administration • Proven success in migrating containerized applications from GKE to ECS • Solid understanding of AWS networking, IAM, CloudWatch, and ECS/Fargate • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills
