Role description
AWS DevOps Engineer – 9-Month Contract Location:Β Hybrid London Duration: 9 Months (initial) Start Date: ASAP The Opportunity We’re supporting a leading global payments organisation on a high-profile initiative, and they’re building out a brand-new DevOps team. As the first hire into this team, you’ll play a key role in shaping the cloud infrastructure and automation strategy from the ground up. This is an exciting chance to work within a highly regulated, enterprise-scale environment where security, scalability, and reliability are critical. Industry Experience – A Must Have Due to the nature of the end customer, it is essential that you have experience within one of the following sectors: β€’ Payments / Banking / Financial Services β€’ FinTech β€’ Gambling / Gaming β€’ Or a similar mission-critical, large-scale infrastructure environment This background is non-negotiable, as the environment requires engineers who understand the demands of secure, always-on platforms. Key Responsibilities β€’ Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Provision and manage AWS infrastructure using Terraform and CloudFormation. β€’ CI/CD: Design, build, and maintain pipelines with Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or GitLab CI. β€’ Containers & Orchestration: Deploy and manage workloads using Docker and Kubernetes (EKS). β€’ Automation & Scripting: Develop automation solutions with Python, Bash, or Go. β€’ Security & Compliance: Implement IAM policies, manage secrets (Secrets Manager, Vault), and ensure best practice. β€’ Monitoring & Logging: Configure and maintain monitoring/observability using CloudWatch, Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, and AWS CloudTrail. β€’ Cost Optimisation: Monitor and optimise AWS resource usage to drive efficiency. Core Skills & Tools β€’ Strong AWS experience (EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, ECS, EKS, Route53, IAM, CloudWatch) β€’ Proficiency in Terraform and/or CloudFormation β€’ CI/CD with Git-based tools β€’ Containerisation with Docker & Kubernetes β€’ Scripting with Python / Bash β€’ Security-first mindset in regulated environments What’s on Offer β€’ 9-month initial contract with potential extensions β€’ Opportunity to be the first hire in a new DevOps team for a global enterprise programme β€’ Exposure to cutting-edge AWS cloud projects in a highly regulated industry β€’ Competitive day rates, with two seniority levels under consideration (mid-level and senior) If you’re an AWS DevOps Engineer with a background in payments, financial services, fintech, or similarly regulated environments, we’d love to hear from you.
