AWS DevOps Engineer

• • Onsite | San Diego, CA • • Our client, an industry leader in semiconductors and software, has an excellent opportunity for an AWS DevOps Engineer to work on a contract opportunity. Work will be a hybrid schedule in Sorrento Valley, CA. The AWS DevOps Engineer will have hands-on expertise in designing, building, and managing CI/CD pipelines on AWS using industry-standard DevOps tools. You will work closely with developers, system administrators, and database engineers to support scalable and secure cloud infrastructure with a strong focus on automation, observability, and performance. Due to client requirement, applicants must be willing and able to work on a w2 basis. Rate: $75 - $85 / hr. w2 Responsibilities: • Design, implement, and maintain CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, Terraform, and Ansible within a Kubernetes-based deployment environment. • Provision, administer, and optimize AWS Infrastructure services including EC2, S3, IAM, RDS, VPC, and more. • Serve as a subject matter expert for DevOps best practices, cloud architecture, and automation strategies. • Support application deployment and perform routine application administration on various web servers (Apache, Nginx, Tomcat, etc.). • Develop and maintain robust automation scripts using Python (preferred), Shell, or other scripting languages to streamline operational tasks. • Monitor infrastructure health, automate responses to system alerts, and perform root cause analysis for system failures. • Work collaboratively with database administrators to manage and optimize relational databases. Write and optimize complex SQL queries, preferably in Oracle (or other relational databases like PostgreSQL, MySQL). • Ensure system security, performance, scalability, and cost-efficiency in cloud infrastructure. Requirements: • Proven DevOps engineering experience, especially within AWS Cloud environments. • Hands-on experience building and configuring CI/CD pipelines with Jenkins, Terraform, and Ansible. • Solid understanding of Kubernetes architecture and experience deploying applications to K8s clusters. • Proficiency in application administration for web-based services. • Strong AWS provisioning and management skills using both the AWS Console and Infrastructure as Code (IaC). • Advanced scripting skills, particularly in Python (preferred), Shell, or equivalent. • Practical experience working with relational databases and writing complex SQL queries. Oracle experience is highly preferred. Education: • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or a related field • AWS Certifications (e.g., AWS Certified DevOps Engineer, Solutions Architect). • Prior experience working in large enterprise environments, preferably in semiconductor or telecommunications industries.
