System Engineer responsibilities involve collaborating with application, development, database, and security teams, as well as other IT teams, to implement automation services across Cloud infrastructure and CI/CD platforms.
This position requires an understanding of all aspects of cloud infrastructure, platforms, and CI/CD processes. The role involves implementing and managing continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) pipelines to facilitate application deployments. Responsibilities include monitoring, supporting, and optimizing cloud infrastructure on Amazon Web Services (AWS), AWS EKS Kubernetes, and other AWS services according to application requirements.
The position requires a comprehensive foundational IT skillset, including experience with AWS Cloud services, Linux and Windows operating systems, server configurations-such as networking, storage, and security principles-and Kubernetes platforms like EKS. The role also necessitates familiarity with key IT services including Disaster Recovery, Active Directory, DNS, IaaS, PaaS, and Containers.
Qualifications:
β’ Education Level: Bachelor's Information Technology Degree or 5 years of relevant work experience
β’ Experience: 5 years of software, DevOps and/or cloud systems engineering
β’ Must have cross platform enterprise experience across IT (Server, Network, Storage, Security).
β’ Must be a highly motivated individual with strong analytical, problem solving and multi-tasking skills complimenting a passion for learning/sharing information from and with peers.
β’ Must be able to be available for weekend support based on the application release deployments and maintenance activities.
Preferred Qualifications:
β’ Understanding of CI/CD pipelines, especially with Jenkins using Groovy, Expert
β’ Understanding of container-based technologies, especially Kubernetes, AWS CloudFormation, Podman, AWS EKS, Expert & Proficient
β’ Understanding of microservice concepts, Proficient
β’ Scripting skills (Bash, Python), Expert
β’ Technical knowledge of AWS managed services (VPC, EC2, EKS, Sagemaker, Bedrock), including monitoring and analytics tools such as AWS CloudWatch
β’ Experience with code management systems (Git) - Expert
β’ Experience maintaining Java web applications (Spring Boot)
β’ Excellent communication skills both written and verbal., Proficient
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
β’ 30% Installs, tunes, upgrades, troubleshoots, and maintains CI/CD pipelines, performs application release deployments in Test and Production environments. Submit change management tickets, represent on the CAB calls.
β’ 60% Write and maintain automation scripts in Python, Groovy, AWS CloudFormation, Bash Shell to streamline operational processes and deployments. Collaborate with development and testing teams to enhance system scalability, performance, and reliability. Manage, monitor, and troubleshoot Linux and Windows-based production environments. Support container orchestration platforms such as Podman and Kubernetes and develop POC using AWS Services. Determine systems integration issues by evaluating components.
β’ 10% Support disaster recovery and audits. Stay current with industry trends, technologies, and best practices in DevOps and cloud services.
