Role description
Architectural Leadership
Design and implement cutting-edge data lakehouse architectures on AWS, utilizing services including AWS Lake Formation, Amazon Redshift, Amazon S3, and AWS Glue
Define comprehensive data strategy encompassing ingestion, processing, storage, and governance for diverse data types and sources
Establish architectural patterns and standards that ensure scalability, performance, and maintainability across the data platform
Advanced Analytics & AI/ML Integration
Architect seamless integration between data lakehouse infrastructure and machine learning services, particularly Amazon SageMaker
Enable data scientists and analysts to build, train, and deploy models at scale through well-designed data pipelines and ML workflows
Design analytics frameworks that support both batch and real-time processing requirements
Infrastructure Excellence
Leverage AWS Systems Manager and other operational tools to automate infrastructure management, security patching, and monitoring
Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) practices using tools like AWS CloudFormation or Terraform
Ensure operational excellence through robust monitoring, alerting, and disaster recovery strategies
Cost Optimization & Security
Implement comprehensive cost management strategies including resource optimization, right-sizing, and efficient data lifecycle policies
Design and enforce security best practices, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements
Establish data governance frameworks that maintain data quality, lineage, and access controls
Stakeholder Collaboration
Partner closely with data engineers, data scientists, and business stakeholders to understand requirements and translate them into technical solutions
Present architectural designs and recommendations to senior leadership and technical teams
Drive cross-functional initiatives that align technical capabilities with business objectives
Technical Leadership & Mentorship
Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior architects and engineers
Foster a culture of continuous learning, innovation, and best practices adoption
Lead technical reviews, architecture discussions, and knowledge-sharing sessions
Required Qualifications
Professional Experience
5+ years of proven experience as a Solutions Architect, Cloud Architect, or similar role with focus on data and analytics solutions
Demonstrated success in architecting and implementing large-scale data platforms on AWS
Strong track record of delivering complex technical projects from conception to production deployment
AWS Technical Expertise
Data & Analytics Services: Deep expertise with Amazon Redshift, AWS Lake Formation, AWS Glue, Amazon S3, Amazon EMR, and Amazon Kinesis
AI/ML Services: Hands-on experience with Amazon SageMaker, including model training, deployment, and MLOps practices
Management & Governance: Proficiency with AWS Systems Manager, IAM, CloudWatch, AWS Config, and AWS CloudTrail
Integration & Orchestration: Experience with AWS Step Functions, Lambda, and API Gateway
Technical Skills
Strong background in designing scalable, secure, and cost-effective cloud architectures
Experience with data modeling, ETL/ELT processes, and data warehouse design principles
Knowledge of programming languages such as Python, SQL, and infrastructure automation tools
Understanding of DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines for data and ML workloads
Certifications
AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Associate (required)
AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Professional or AWS Certified Data Analytics - Specialty (preferred)
Additional relevant certifications are a plus
