Role description
Job Title: Cloud Engineer Employment Type: Contract Duration: 4 weeks (possible 1–2 week extension) Location: Fully Remote (EST, CST, MST, or PST) Pay Range: $70–80/hour W2 About the Project The client organization is undergoing a company split that requires standing up new entities and executing time-sensitive Azure-based migration work. The team is looking to add two Cloud Engineers who can immediately contribute over the next four weeks. This is a strong opportunity for someone between roles who wants steady project work through the holidays and exposure to a variety of large-scale consulting projects. Position Overview The Cloud Engineer will provide hands-on support for identity, email, collaboration, and data migration activities as the company separates into two independent organizations. The role requires a strong Microsoft/Azure background and the ability to work quickly in a high-pace environment, ideally with prior experience supporting merger & acquisition (M&A) or divestiture efforts. Key Responsibilities • Execute migration tasks including user accounts, mailboxes, collaboration tools, and data repositories. • Set up new entities and configurations within Azure and related Microsoft cloud services. • Provide pre- and post-cutover support to end users (device access, credential issues, permissions, shared drives, etc.). • Manage service desk tickets and assist with provisioning across cloud identities and platforms. • Document changes, validate data integrity, and ensure smooth cutover activities. • Support change control, testing, and troubleshooting throughout the migration process. Required Qualifications • Strong experience with Azure and Microsoft cloud technologies (Azure AD/Entra ID, Exchange Online, M365, etc.). • Hands-on experience executing migration tasks for user accounts, mail, collaboration tools, or data systems. • Familiarity with identity management platforms such as Azure AD/Entra ID, Okta, Google Workspace, and similar. • Background supporting hybrid-cloud environments (cloud + on-prem). • Excellent troubleshooting, communication, and end-user support skills. Preferred Experience • Prior involvement in Merger & Acquisition (M&A), divestiture, or rapid-paced migration projects. • Experience working in consulting or client-facing technical environments.
