Role: Azure Data Migration Architect(Healthcare Experience Must/Only w2) Location: Remote Minimum 10+ Years of Experience required. Role Summary The Senior Azure Data Architect will lead the technical design and hands-on execution of an enterprise Azure data platform migration for a pharmaceutical client. You will be responsible for provisioning and configuring target Azure infrastructure, migrating data pipelines and ingestion workflows, transitioning vendor data feeds, and ensuring the migrated environment meets HIPAA compliance and reporting continuity requirements throughout. Key Responsibilities Azure Infrastructure & Architecture 1. Design and provision Azure Synapse Analytics workspaces in the target environment, maintaining strict separation between PHI and non-PHI data domains 1. Configure Azure Data Lake Gen 2 with appropriate container structures, access tiers, and lifecycle policies 1. Establish role-based access controls (RBAC), identity management, and network security policies across all data services 1. Provision and validate SFTP endpoints for inbound vendor data feeds, ensuring secure and reliable connectivity before cutover 1. Set up GxP-compliant and standard SharePoint environments within the client's Microsoft 365 tenant to support regulated report storage Data Pipeline Migration 1. Inherit, document, and migrate ADF pipelines, Python ingestion scripts, and Synapse automation workflows from the source environment 1. Prioritise and sequence pipeline migration across Non-PHI and PHI workstreams, running parallel validation against source outputs throughout 1. Migrate and validate ingestion pipelines covering distribution, payer intelligence, claims, specialty pharmacy dispense, patient support HUB, and co-pay program data 1. Execute SFTP endpoint cutovers across 10+ vendor data sources in a coordinated, sequenced schedule with defined fallback procedures 1. Validate enterprise MDM alignment for patient, provider, and product master data in the migrated environment Reporting Infrastructure 1. Configure Power BI dataset connections, gateways, and scheduled refresh in the target Power BI tenant 1. Support row-level security (RLS) re-implementation for field-facing and executive dashboards; validate data accuracy before UAT 1. Migrate Excel and Power Query reports to target SharePoint environments; re-establish automated refresh schedules and access controls 1. Support client business stakeholders through UAT and resolve all validation issues before final sign-off Knowledge Transfer & Handover 1. Lead structured knowledge transfer sessions with the incumbent managed service provider, extracting pipeline documentation, business rules, and transformation logic 1. Produce complete technical documentation of all migrated pipelines, data flows, schemas, and environment configurations for client IT ownership 1. Deliver a decommission plan for all source Azure assets 1. Proven experience leading production data platform migrations — not greenfield builds — from a source environment to a new Azure tenant under delivery timelines 1. Hands-on experience managing SFTP-based data ingestion from multiple concurrent external vendors 1. Demonstrated experience handling PHI data in HIPAA-regulated environments, including technical documentation for compliance and BAA processes 1. Ability to inherit, reverse-engineer, and document pipelines from third-party managed service providers with varying documentation quality 1. Experience running parallel environment validation — comparing source and target outputs at scale — prior to production cutover 1. Comfortable operating as the primary technical owner on a time-pressured delivery program with direct stakeholder accountability Preferred 1. Background in pharmaceutical or life sciences commercial data — specialty pharmacy, patient support programs, claims, payer intelligence, or distribution data 1. Experience migrating Power BI environments across tenants, including RLS re-implementation and dataset re-mapping 1. Consulting or professional services background — proven ability to document as you go and produce clean handover deliverables 1. GxP validated data environment or regulated SharePoint experience 1.
