Azure DevOps Engineer Location: Hybrid (1 day/week in Manchester) Clearance: MUST hold active SC Clearance Contract: 12-Month Fixed-Term Contract About Amber Labs Amber Labs is a cutting-edge consultancy delivering data-driven, cloud-native, and digital transformation solutions for government and enterprise clients. We specialise in modern engineering practices and pride ourselves on our ability to deliver secure, scalable, high-impact technology outcomes. We are looking for an experienced Azure DevOps Engineer to join our team on a 12-month fixed-term contract, supporting the delivery of secure, scalable digital services within a Central Government environment. This role is well suited to someone who is comfortable working in regulated settings, has strong DevOps fundamentals, and holds active SC clearance. Key Responsibilities β€’ Design, build, and maintain CI/CD pipelines to support reliable and secure deployments β€’ Support cloud infrastructure and environments, with a focus on Microsoft Azure β€’ Work closely with developers, architects, and delivery teams to embed DevOps best practices β€’ Implement and manage infrastructure as code (IaC) β€’ Monitor, maintain, and improve system performance, availability, and security β€’ Troubleshoot and resolve deployment and environment issues β€’ Ensure compliance with security, governance, and operational standards required for government projects Essential Skills & Experience β€’ Active SC clearance (must be current) β€’ Proven experience working as a DevOps Engineer in complex delivery environments β€’ Strong understanding of CI/CD tools and DevOps practices β€’ Experience working on Central Government or highly regulated projects β€’ Comfortable working in agile, multidisciplinary teams β€’ Strong problem-solving and communication skills Desirable Skills β€’ Hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure (preferred) β€’ Experience with infrastructure as code (e.g. ARM, Bicep, Terraform) β€’ Knowledge of containerisation and orchestration (e.g. Docker, Kubernetes) β€’ Experience with monitoring and logging tools Location & Working Pattern β€’ Hybrid working β€’ 1 day per week on-site in Manchester, remainder remote What We Offer β€’ 12-month fixed-term contract with competitive salary. β€’ Remote-first working with occasional travel to London. β€’ Opportunity to work with experienced cloud, DevOps, and data engineering teams. β€’ The chance to contribute to meaningful, high-impact digital transformation programmes.
