Role: Azure Engineer
Location: London (Hybrid β on-site 2β3 days per week)
Contract Type: Initial 6 months (extension likely)
Day Rate: Competitive (outside IR35, depending on experience)
About the Role
We are seeking a skilled Azure Engineer to join our team on a contract basis. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining secure and scalable cloud solutions on Microsoft Azure. This role will suit a hands-on engineer with strong technical expertise and a proven track record of delivering enterprise-grade cloud infrastructure projects.
Key Responsibilities
β’ Design, build, and optimize Azure-based infrastructure and services.
β’ Implement and manage Azure networking, storage, compute, and monitoring solutions.
β’ Work closely with development and operations teams to support CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure automation.
β’ Ensure security, compliance, and governance best practices are applied across cloud environments.
β’ Troubleshoot and resolve issues in Azure environments.
β’ Provide technical documentation and knowledge transfer to internal teams.
β’ Support migration of workloads to Azure and optimize existing deployments.
Required Skills & Experience
β’ Proven experience as an Azure Engineer or Cloud Infrastructure Engineer.
β’ Strong knowledge of Azure services: Virtual Machines, AKS, App Services, Functions, Networking, Azure AD, Storage, and Monitoring.
β’ Expertise in Infrastructure as Code (IaC) β Terraform, ARM Templates, or Bicep.
β’ Hands-on experience with DevOps practices and tools such as GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, or Jenkins.
β’ Knowledge of networking, security, and identity management in Azure.
β’ Experience with PowerShell, Python, or Bash scripting.
β’ Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
β’ Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a collaborative, Agile environment.
Desirable Skills
β’ Azure certification(s) (e.g., AZ-104, AZ-305, AZ-400).
β’ Experience with hybrid cloud and on-premises integrations.
β’ Familiarity with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
β’ Knowledge of cost optimization and FinOps in Azure.
