Backend Engineer

About the job A growing and forward-thinking technology organisation is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer (Contract) to join their team. Role Overview As a Senior Backend Engineer, you’ll be responsible for building robust server-side applications and services, collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver secure, performant, and user-focused solutions. Key Responsibilities • Design, implement, and maintain backend services, APIs, and databases. • Work closely with product managers, frontend engineers, and stakeholders to deliver end-to-end features. • Ensure systems are scalable, reliable, and maintainable. • Write clean, efficient, and testable code following best practices. Requirements • Strong programming skills in Node.js (experience in other back-end languages also considered). • Solid understanding of RESTful APIs, microservices, and event-driven architecture. • Hands-on experience with relational and/or NoSQL databases. • Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and containerisation tools (Docker, Kubernetes). • Knowledge of software design principles, testing methodologies, and version control (Git).
