Role description
Position: Backend Engineer
Max Hourly Rate : $55/hr
Location: San Jose, CA (Onsite)
Experience Required: 6+ years of professional software development experience
Key Responsibilities
Design, build, and maintain scalable backend services, APIs, and microservices.
Develop high-performance systems in Go or Python for mission-critical applications.
Collaborate with frontend engineers, product managers, and data scientists to deliver end-to-end features.
Implement secure, reliable, and efficient data storage and retrieval mechanisms (SQL/NoSQL, caching).
Optimize applications for performance, scalability, and cloud deployment.
Write clean, reusable, and well-tested code following best practices.
Participate in architectural reviews, code reviews, and continuous integration practices.
(Optional but desirable) Build and optimize AI/ML-driven pipelines and integrate intelligent services into backend systems.
6+ years of strong backend development experience.
Proficiency in Go (Golang) or Python (hands-on production experience with at least one).
Strong knowledge of RESTful APIs, gRPC, or GraphQL.
Experience with databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, Redis, etc.).
Solid understanding of distributed systems, concurrency, and event-driven architectures.
Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD pipelines.
Strong debugging, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
Knowledge of software engineering best practices, including testing and documentation.
Exposure to AI/ML systems, data pipelines, or model serving frameworks.
Experience with cloud platforms - GCP.
Understanding of security, authentication, and authorization frameworks (OAuth2, JWT, etc.).
Familiarity with message queues (Kafka, RabbitMQ, Pub/Sub).
Knowledge of performance tuning and monitoring tools (Prometheus, Grafana, etc.).
