Backend Engineer

Job Summary We are seeking a Backend Engineer with strong experience in Node.js and Java to support a back end–focused streaming platform. The ideal candidate is an agile-minded problem solver with experience building robust APIs and services in microservices architectures. This is a full-time, hybrid 3 days onsite role based in Glendale, CA. Key Responsibilities • Design, develop, and maintain server-side applications using Java and Node.js • Build scalable and efficient APIs that support web and mobile applications • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design, and ship new features • Participate in two-week agile sprints and daily scrum ceremonies • Optimize applications for maximum speed and scalability • Write clean, maintainable code and participate in peer code reviews • Troubleshoot, debug, and upgrade software as needed • Contribute to architecture and design discussions with technical leadership Requirements • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field • Experience: 3+ years of professional experience in backend development • Skills: • Strong proficiency in JavaScript and Node.js • Familiarity with Spring Boot and REST API development • Experience with SQL and/or NoSQL database technologies • Strong understanding of RESTful API and microservices architecture • Proficient in version control systems, particularly Git • Excellent debugging, problem-solving, and analytical skills Preferred Qualifications • Experience with Scala or additional JVM-based languages • Familiarity with agile methodologies and sprint-based workflows • Exposure to cloud infrastructure environments (e.g., AWS, GCP) • Understanding of CI/CD pipelines and containerized applications
