Role description
We're recruiting on behalf of a globally recognised financial services firm seeking a Backend Python Developer to join their Specialised Electronic Trading Infrastructure (SETI) team. This role is ideal for a strong backend engineer with a focus on infrastructure tooling and systems automation - no cloud work involved. You'll be working on the internal tools and platforms that support one of the most performance-sensitive trading environments in the world. Role Overview: β€’ Develop and maintain backend tools to automate and manage the electronic trading infrastructure. β€’ Collaborate with engineering and operations teams to ensure high system reliability and maintainability. β€’ Focus on robust, secure, and efficient internal systems - not cloud-based or external-facing services. Key Requirements: β€’ Strong Python programming skills, with solid software engineering fundamentals. β€’ Experience in developing backend services and command-line tools for system and infrastructure management. β€’ Proficient with unit testing, mocking, and working in Linux environments. β€’ Familiarity with CLI-based debugging tools (e.g., tcpdump). β€’ Hands-on experience with Git, Jenkins, test-driven development, and CI pipelines. Nice to Have: β€’ Experience with Ansible or similar infrastructure-as-code tools. β€’ Exposure to Agile practices (Scrum, Kanban). β€’ Knowledge of RESTful APIs for infrastructure control and automation. β€’ Prior work in regulated industries or environments with strict security requirements.
