Specific Job Functions
We are seeking an experienced BI Analytics Developer with a strong background in building data products for the consumption layer. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with Databricks, Power BI, and Unity Catalog, and will be responsible for creating semantic models, enriching metadata, and mapping gold layer attributes to KPIs for advanced analytics and predictive dashboards.
Key Responsibilities
β’ Data Product Development
β’ Design and build data products for the consumption layer using Databricks and Power BI.
β’ Develop semantic models in Databricks to support self-service analytics and enterprise reporting.
β’ Create reusable datasets and data marts optimized for performance and scalability.
β’ Databricks Integration
β’ Leverage Databricks SQL and Delta Lake for building curated gold layer tables.
β’ Implement Unity Catalog for data governance, security, and lineage tracking.
β’ Apply metadata enrichment techniques to provide business context, tagging, and classification.
β’ Business Context & KPI Mapping
β’ Collaborate with business stakeholders to map gold layer attributes to KPIs.
β’ Define metrics and measures for dashboards and predictive analytics.
β’ Ensure alignment with organizational data standards and governance policies.
β’ Visualization & Reporting
β’ Build Power BI dashboards and reports for operational, analytical, and predictive insights.
β’ Optimize Power BI models for performance and usability.
β’ Integrate Databricks visualizations where applicable.
β’ Collaboration & Documentation
β’ Work closely with data engineers, product owners, and business analysts to translate requirements into technical solutions.
β’ Document semantic models, data products, and metadata strategies.
β’ Participate in design reviews and provide recommendations for best practices.
Required Skills
β’ Technical Expertise:
β’ Strong experience with Databricks (SQL, Delta Lake, Unity Catalog).
β’ Advanced Power BI skills (DAX, semantic modelling, performance tuning).
β’ Proficiency in SQL and PySpark for data transformation and modelling.
β’ Proficiency in Python for complex procedures
β’ Data Governance & Metadata:
β’ Experience with Unity Catalog for access control and lineage.
β’ Ability to enrich metadata for business context and tagging.
β’ Analytics & Visualization:
β’ Proven track record of building enterprise-grade dashboards and predictive analytics solutions.
β’ Domain Knowledge:
β’ Familiarity with healthcare or financial KPIs is a plus.
β’ Soft Skills:
β’ Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
β’ Ability to lead discussions and drive requirements to completion.
β’ Preferred Qualifications
β’ Experience with Azure Databricks and Power BI Service.
β’ Knowledge of data modelling best practices for BI and analytics.
