A client, a law firm in Buffalo, NY is seeking a Blockchain Analytics Consultant (Chainalysis) to join their team! This is a remote/full-time/contract position Hourly based on experience: $85-$100/HR Position Summary: This role supports a law firm's cryptocurrency investigations, compliance matters, and litigation support by providing expert blockchain analytics. The consultant will leverage Chainalysis tools to trace and interpret digital asset activity, translating complex blockchain data into clear, defensible insights for legal and regulatory use. This position is ideal for an experienced, independent professional comfortable working in investigative and legal contexts. Key Responsibilities: Blockchain Analysis & Investigations
Use Chainalysis tools (Reactor, KYT, Data Solutions) to trace and analyze cryptocurrency transactions across public blockchains
Support investigations involving fraud, money laundering, sanctions, asset tracing, and other crypto-related matters
Identify wallet behavior, transaction patterns, and risk indicators relevant to legal inquiries
Legal & Litigation Support
Prepare clear, well-documented reports and visualizations suitable for attorneys, regulators, and potential court use
Assist with expert analysis, fact-finding, and documentation for litigation and regulatory matters
Maintain defensible methodologies and documentation standards
Collaboration & Communication
Partner closely with attorneys and internal stakeholders to explain blockchain activity in plain, non-technical language
Maintain strict confidentiality and adhere to legal and compliance standards
Operate independently while coordinating work and timelines with the law firm's needs
Qualifications:
Hands-on experience with Chainalysis tools or formal Chainalysis certification
Strong understanding of blockchain technology, cryptocurrency transactions, and wallet behavior
Experience in one or more of the following environments: law enforcement, regulatory or compliance teams, law firms, financial institutions, crypto exchanges, or investigations firms
Ability to document findings clearly, accurately, and professionally
Comfortable working independently in a part-time, consulting capacity
Preferred Qualifications:
Prior experience supporting law firms or legal proceedings
Familiarity with AML, KYC, sanctions, or financial crime investigations
Experience testifying as an expert or supporting expert witnesses (a plus, not required)
Knowledge of multiple blockchains, including Bitcoin, Ethereum, and stablecoins
