It represents a high-level overview of skills and responsibilities for roles we anticipate across the enterprise this year and on an ongoing basis. • • Business Analyst Role Summary The Business Analyst partners with product, technology, operations, and risk/compliance stakeholders to translate complex business needs into clear, testable requirements, data definitions, and process designs. The role connects business outcomes to system behavior, improves data quality, and controls, and drives measurable value across multiple enterprise domains (benefits administration, cybersecurity and risk, digital marketing/client experience, data and AI enablement, and Salesforce/charitable solutions). Core Responsibilities Strategy & Planning • Shape near- and long-term analysis plans aligned to business vision, target outcomes, and KPIs; clarify scope, dependencies, and success measures. • Elicit, analyze, document, and validate business, functional, and non-functional requirements; translate business rules into precise system behaviors. • Develop process maps, data dictionaries, and traceability from objectives to requirements and test outcomes; maintain source-of-truth documentation. • Anticipate risks and impacts; recommend mitigation options and decision trade-offs for leaders. • Benefits/Recordkeeping focus: apply knowledge of plan provisions, recordkeeping configuration, and annual enrollment change cycles to design accurate solutions. • Cybersecurity/Entitlements focus on aligning access and control requirements with enterprise standards, document evidence needs for audit and compliance. • Digital Marketing (FIBET) focus: translate marketing and client-experience strategies into requirements, roadmaps, and measurable outcomes across web/app channels. • Data & AI/Streaming focus: define onboarding patterns and readiness criteria for messaging/streaming platforms; drive data governance (metadata, lineage, retention, access). • Charitable/Salesforce focus: design and optimize data models, automation, and data hygiene approaches across integrated Salesforce environments. Delivery Enablement & Coaching • Clarify acceptance criteria and evaluate scenarios; support systems testing and business acceptance validation; track issues through resolution. • Use empirical data to inform prioritization, forecast effort at a prominent level, and improve predictability without prescribing a specific delivery methodology. • Promote clear communication, shared understanding, and psychological safety across teams, mentor analysts and partners on requirements quality and data standards. Cross-Functional Execution & Stakeholder Management • Coordinate analysis and decision-making across product, engineering, operations, security, legal, and compliance; provide timely, actionable status and insights. • Facilitate workshops, design reviews, risk/controls discussions, influence outcomes without formal authority. • Engage leaders for release readiness and change adoption, ensuring downstream teams and clients are prepared. • Benefits/Recordkeeping focus: partner with implementation and operations teams to validate plan configuration, data conversions, and downstream communications. • Cybersecurity/Entitlements focus serve as the point of contact for entitlement standards and control onboarding; triage issues and maintain FAQs/guides. • Digital Marketing (FIBET) focus: work with UX, Content, Architecture, Engineering, and Compliance to ensure clarity, feasibility, and regulatory alignment. • Data & AI/Streaming focus: review integration patterns for data quality, security, and compliance; maintain onboarding playbooks and decision logs. • Charitable/Salesforce focus: coordinate data hygiene, deduplication, and integration flows; support sandbox management and change deployments. Quality, Governance & Operational Excellence • Uphold standards for requirements quality, data definitions, and documentation; ensure traceability from requirements to evaluate cases and controls. • Contribute to incident, change, and problem management processes; support root-cause analysis and preventative actions. • Apply knowledge of regulatory/industry obligations (e.g., financial services, privacy/security) to influence solution design and documentation. Analytics, Capacity & Performance • Leverage historical trends and throughput data to inform capacity discussions and sequencing. • Define, track, and report leading/lagging indicators and analysis KPIs (e.g., requirements quality, defect escape rate, cycle time, and documentation completeness). • Analyze data quality and process performance; recommend optimizations and implement improvement plans. Skills & Qualifications • Experience: 5–10+ years in business analysis (varies by level) delivering complex, multi-team initiatives within financial services or similarly regulated environments. • Education/Certifications: Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent). Relevant certifications (e.g., Salesforce Administrator for CRM-focused roles) are a plus. • Tooling: Proficiency with enterprise work management and documentation tools (e.g., Jira/Azure DevOps, Confluence), and MS Office (Excel, Word). SQL familiarity for data validation. • Analysis Expertise: Strong requirements analysis, data mapping, process modeling, and test design; ability to translate complex needs into clear, testable specifications. • Influence & Communication: Exceptional facilitation and communication; ability to simplify complexity and tailor messages to executive, business, and technical audiences. • Risk/Dependency Management: Initiative-taking identification and resolution of risks, data/tech dependencies, and control considerations; structured problem-solving and critical thinking. • Domain Knowledge (as applicable): Benefits administration/recordkeeping, cybersecurity/entitlements, digital marketing/client experience, data/streaming platforms & AI governance, Salesforce/charitable solutions. Working Model These roles participate in a hybrid work model that blends onsite collaboration with remote flexibility; many teams operate onsite every other week (or similar cadence) based on team needs.
