Job Description:
We are engaging a Business Analyst to provide domain and analytical services as part of the Golden Phoenix transformation programme within an energy trading environment. The focus of the engagement is to bridge energy trading domain knowledge with AI-driven initiatives, supporting clearly defined project outcomes.
This role operates in a consultative, deliverables-focused capacity, aligned to specific programme milestones rather than ongoing operational support.
Scope of Services / Key Deliverables
• Analyse and document energy trading processes, workflows, and data flows across the trading lifecycle
• Translate trading and business requirements into clear functional and analytical specifications for AI and data science teams
• Act as the domain interface between traders, quants, data scientists, and technology teams
• Define business rules, success metrics, and acceptance criteria for AI-enabled trading use cases
• Support use-case prioritisation and value assessment within the Golden Phoenix programme
• Produce high-quality documentation (process maps, requirements, impact assessments) aligned to project deliverables
• Support UAT and validation activities against agreed business outcomes
Required Expertise
• Proven experience as a Business Analyst within energy trading (power, gas, LNG, or commodities)
• Strong understanding of front-to-back trading processes (pricing, risk, scheduling, settlements, etc.)
• Experience working on AI, analytics, or data-driven transformation initiatives
• Ability to translate complex domain concepts into structured requirements for technical teams
• Experience delivering work in project-based or consulting environments
• Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills
• Hands-on experience with SQL and at least one scripting language (e.g. Python).
• Familiarity with relational databases and data warehousing concepts.
• Experience working with market data, trading data, or financial reference data.
• Exposure to data visualisation tools (e.g. Power BI, Tableau).
• Understanding of Agile delivery practices and tools (e.g. Azure DevOps, JIRA).
Desirable Experience
• Exposure to AI / ML concepts and how they are applied in trading contexts
• Experience working with trading platforms, ETRM/CTRM systems, or proprietary trading tools
• Background in large-scale transformation or modernization programmes
• Familiarity with agile delivery environments
