Job Title: Business Analyst – Payments & Banking

About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Business Analyst with a strong background in Payments & Banking to join our team in Glasgow. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in gathering requirements, analysing payment systems, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver payment-related projects within the banking domain.
Key Responsibilities
• Work closely with stakeholders to gather, document, and validate business requirements for payment and banking initiatives.
• Analyse existing payment systems, processes, and workflows to identify gaps and improvement opportunities.
• Collaborate with Product Owners, Architects, Developers, and Testers to ensure business needs are clearly understood and implemented.
• Prepare functional specifications, process flows, and data mapping documents.
• Support the design and implementation of solutions for payment schemes such as SWIFT, SEPA, BACS, Faster Payments, CHAPS, or ISO 20022.
• Conduct impact assessments for regulatory changes and new payment services.
• Facilitate workshops, stakeholder meetings, and requirement walkthroughs.
• Assist in UAT planning and execution to validate solutions meet requirements.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory and security standards in banking and payment solutions.
Required Skills & Experience
• 5+ years of experience as a Business Analyst in the banking and payments domain.
• Strong understanding of payment schemes (SWIFT, SEPA, Faster Payments, CHAPS, BACS) and ISO 20022 standards.
• Experience working on payment processing platforms, clearing & settlement systems, or transaction banking solutions.
• Solid knowledge of regulatory requirements (e.g., PSD2, Open Banking, AML, KYC).
• Proven track record of requirement gathering, documentation, and stakeholder management.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to liaise between business and technical teams.
• Proficient in using tools such as JIRA, Confluence, Visio for documentation and collaboration.
Preferred Skills
• Experience in Agile and Scrum environments.
• Knowledge of core banking systems and digital payments.
• Familiarity with API-based payment integrations.
• Prior experience with UK and European banking regulations.
Education
• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• Relevant BA certifications (e.g., CBAP, BCS, Agile BA) are a plus.
