Business Analyst Public Health

Job Title: Business Analyst- Public Health Duration: 1 years-Hybrid Location: Indianapolis IN, 46204 Shift: 8am to 5pm ------------Experience in public health or medical related industry Required-------- Job Description: The NEDSS Base System (NBS) is an integrated information system that helps local, state, and territorial public health departments manage reportable disease data and sends notifiable disease data to the CDC. The NBS Business Analyst is an integral part of the communicable disease investigation team. This position is responsible for all communication with electronic lab report (ELR) and electronic case report (eCR) data providers, hospitals, laboratories, clinics, the Health Information Exchange (HIE), internal IT staff, and others. The position is also responsible for researching electronic data issues and testing all electronic data received from submitters. Essential Duties/Responsibilities: • Work through complex issues that include creating test scenarios, test cases, and test scripts mapped to workflow, and system design requirements. • Replicate, isolate, and identify a root cause while providing workarounds and testing, fixes, and patches in a staging or test environment. • Monitor system issues and provide feedback. • Research and resolve front-end/user and back-end/system problems by diagnosing the root cause, hypothesizing, and mapping out a possible solution, and testing the solution in the QA environment. • Resolve issues by engaging appropriate business/policy staff, software developers and/or vendor specialists. • Assist users in monitoring and analyzing their data via SQL querying and reporting. • Work closely with end users, project management, application developers, and others to understand features and create a robust, comprehensive test strategy to verify functionality. Skill required- • Experience writing, refining, and analyzing SQL queries to answer questions and resolve issues. • 7+ years of experience required in related field. • Extensive SQL skills • Experience creating test scenarios, test cases, and test scripts mapped to workflow, and system design requirements • Strong experience debugging applications • Curiosity with the ability to problem-solve in a creative but vigilant manner • Critical thinking skills with a strong emphasis on accuracy, precision, and logical reasoning • Verbal and written communication skills • User-level experience with Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel. • Experience in public health or medical related industry.
