Role description
What you'll be doing? Supporting the business and our divisional offices, our Head Office functions cover all departments from our Executive Board through to our support functions such as Group Design and Technical, HR, Health and Safety, IT, Sales and Marketing, Commercial, Procurement, Group Finance, Corporate Affairs, as well as Legal and Company Secretariat. We also have a specialised function – Barratt Partnerships. While the work varies from team to team, our key requirements don’t: you must be well organised, extremely helpful and resourceful, and able to use your initiative. You’ll understand that what you do is important, and impacts on your team, the department, and the wider business. The Business Analyst has proven ability to understand business need, and is accountable for elicitation and management of business, functional and non-functional requirements to support the solution architecture function with solution design. Able to work on smaller projects independently, whilst working as part of a BA team for larger deliverables. You will be expected to: Situation Investigation and Problem Analysis • • Plan and define the analysis approach, ensuring a holistic approach. • • Undertake root cause analysis with experience of some or all of the following techniques: • Fishbone Diagram • 5 Why’s • Mind Maps • CATWOE / Root Definition • Rich Pictures Requirement Definition and Management • • Demonstrable experience of Requirements engineering, to include elicitation, analysis, validation, documentation and management of requirements • • Experience of a range of requirements elicitation techniques: • Observation • Workshop • Interview • Scenarios • Prototyping • Quantitative approaches • • Experience in eliciting and managing Business Requirements • • Utilise techniques such as knowledge mapping, storytelling, and documentation to effectively manage and utilise tacit and explicit knowledge • • Experience in defining General, Technical, Functional and Non-Functional Requirements • • Facilitate input from stakeholders using a range of techniques, provide constructive challenge and enable effective requirements prioritisation • • Resolve conflict or contradiction in requirements • • Establish requirements baseline, obtain formal stakeholder agreement / sign-off to requirements, and ensure traceability to source in line with the defined governance process Feasibility Assessment and Business Case Development • • Support the identification and feasibility assessment of options • • Support the identification of tangible costs and benefits and the development of business cases Business Process Improvement & Modelling • • Experience with the following process modelling techniques: • BPMN 2.0 • User Case Diagrams • Business Activity Modelling • • Familiar with Current and Future state modelling, obtaining stakeholder agreement following Stakeholder review and issues resolution • • Analyse and design processes, using the agreed notation, to enable process optimisation Solution Delivery • • Accountable for requirements traceability, ensuring solution designs and delivery meets requirements • • Support the triage of defects to determine if a true bug or a change • • Advise on user acceptance testing to ensure requirements are met, and test scenarios cover all requirements / business processes • • Support the Change Management process by providing input to training and implementation plans People • • Build strong relationships with peers in the business and IT • • Inspire team members to continually improve ways of working by setting high standards for business analysis tools and deliverables Tooling • • Experience using the following tools in a Business Analysis role: • Azure DevOps • MS Visio • Balsamiq • SharePoint • M365 Suite What You’ll Need • To be successful in the role we are looking for: • Proven experience of Business Analysis in a large, complex organisation • • Industry recognised Business Analysis qualification(s): • BCS International Diploma in Business Analysis • IIBA Certified Business Analysis Professional • • Ability to work independently, under general direction, using discretion in identifying and responding to complex issues related to own activities • • Ability to influence, negotiate and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure requirements are understood and met by defined solutions • • Effective written and verbal communication and listening skills, when engaging with colleagues, users/customers, suppliers and partners • • Effective facilitation skills, experienced at workshop facilitation, individual stakeholder interviews, conflict resolution and ensuring common problem understanding • • Strong financial and commercial awareness • • Strong customer focus – able to meet the demands of internal customers • • Flexible and adaptable – capable of changing direction where required and showing flexibility to meet new demands • • Experience of different project methodologies and requirement documentation tools Benefits Our Company and Benefits We’ve been nationally recognised as a 5 star housebuilder since 2010 for supplying high-quality homes for all generations.
