Business Intelligence Architect (Power BI) Location: Ipswich Rate: £500 per day Working Pattern: Hybrid – 2 days onsite, 3 days working from home Temporary contract Seven Resourcing are recruiting for an experienced Business Intelligence Architect / Power BI Architect to lead the design and delivery of a high-impact Inclusion Tool built in Microsoft Power BI. This is a hands-on, delivery-focused role suited to someone who can add value immediately and take full ownership of a short, outcomes-driven project. You will work closely with the Intelligence Hub (iHub) team to shape the data architecture, develop robust semantic models, and deliver a polished, trusted reporting solution that can be confidently supported and extended after handover. The Role As the BI Architect, you will be responsible for the end-to-end technical delivery of the Inclusion Tool, covering both back-end architecture and front-end Power BI development. This is not a purely advisory position — you will be building, optimising, and delivering the solution yourself. Key objectives include: • Designing a scalable Power BI architecture aligned to longer-term organisational needs • Developing high-quality semantic models, DAX measures, and governance standards • Delivering intuitive, accessible dashboards for strategic and operational users • Ensuring a clean, well-documented handover to the internal iHub team Key Responsibilities Solution & Data Architecture • Design a scalable, enterprise-grade Power BI architecture • Define and implement star-schema data models, shared dimensions, and conformed measures • Establish DAX patterns, KPI logic, dataflows, and refresh strategies • Enable governed self-service reporting and future extensibility Data Sourcing & Integration • Work with analysts and data owners to identify authoritative data sources • Resolve data quality issues, definition mismatches, and gaps • Carry out data profiling and validation to ensure confidence in metrics • Document data lineage, assumptions, and known limitations Power BI Development • Build and optimise semantic models and performance-aware DAX measures • Implement data security where required • Design and deliver clear, user-focused dashboards aligned to Inclusion Tool objectives • Apply Power BI best practice for usability, accessibility, and performance Project Delivery & Stakeholder Engagement • Own delivery across a short, fixed timeframe, from scope definition through to final release • Translate business requirements directly into technical solutions • Communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders • Act as the single point of accountability for technical delivery Testing, Documentation & Handover • Support UAT and KPI validation • Produce clear, practical documentation covering models, measures, refresh processes, and design decisions • Complete a structured handover, ensuring the iHub team can confidently support and evolve the solution Essential Skills & Experience • Extensive hands-on experience as a BI Architect, Power BI Architect, or Senior Power BI Developer • Expert knowledge of Power BI Desktop and Power BI Service • Advanced DAX skills, including complex measures and performance tuning • Strong dimensional data modelling experience (star schemas) • Solid SQL skills and experience with relational data sources • Proven delivery of enterprise-grade Power BI solutions • Experience delivering end-to-end BI projects in short-term or contract roles • Ability to work autonomously in ambiguous or fast-moving environments • Strong documentation and knowledge-transfer capability Desirable Experience • Public sector, education, or social care analytics • Inclusion, SEND, or needs-based datasets • Power BI governance and controlled handover to internal BI teams • Exposure to Microsoft Fabric or the wider Azure BI stack Working with Seven Resourcing Join Seven Resourcing and benefit from over a decade of expertise in connecting professionals with exciting career opportunities.
