Duration: 3 months of contact with possible extension or conversion into a permanent role
Job Description:
The Senior Business Intelligence Engineer supports modernization efforts by transitioning existing reporting solutions to updated data sources and platforms. The Senior Business Intelligence Engineer's work assignments involve moderately complex to complex issues where evaluation of reporting logic, data models, and technical dependencies requires an in-depth understanding of Power BI, DAX, and SSRS/Paginated reporting.
The Senior Business Intelligence Engineer applies specialized knowledge of Power BI development, DAX modeling, report migrations, dataset design, and paginated report rebuilding. This role makes decisions on moderately complex to complex technical approaches for assigned project components and exercises considerable latitude in determining methods, requirements, and sequencing of work to meet delivery timelines.
Required Qualifications
β’ 5 or more years of hands-on experience developing Power BI solutions, including data modeling, DAX measure creation, and report/dashboard design
β’ Advanced experience converting or rebuilding SSRS reports into Power BI or Paginated Reports
β’ Experience transitioning reports to new data sources, including updating queries, validating logic, and redesigning datasets
β’ Experience with T-SQL for validating data sources, rebuilding queries, and understanding legacy SSRS datasets
β’ Proficiency in Power Query (M) for data shaping and transformation
β’ Strong understanding of dataset architecture, model optimization, relationships, and performance tuning
β’ Ability to analyze existing reporting logic and accurately replicate or improve it in Power BI or Paginated Reports
β’ Experience working with large and complex datasets
β’ Strong verbal and written communication skills for documenting requirements, logic changes, and technical decisions
Preferred Qualifications
β’ Advanced proficiency in DAX, including timeβintelligence, advanced modeling patterns, and calculation optimization
β’ Experience building enterpriseβgrade Power BI semantic models or reusable datasets
β’ Experience with Power BI Report Builder for paginated report development
β’ Familiarity with migration of reporting solutions within large enterprise environments
