Role description
BI Lead | 5-Month Contract | Outside IR35 | £550-£575 per day | Remote First
We're supporting a major data transformation programme and are looking to engage an experienced Business Intelligence Lead to shape the future of enterprise reporting and analytics.
This isn't a traditional reporting role.
You'll be responsible for defining how business intelligence operates across the organisation, moving teams away from fragmented reporting and towards a modern, scalable analytics capability built on trusted data products, semantic models, and self-service insight.
You'll sit at the centre of a wider data programme, influencing strategy, governance, architecture, and adoption while partnering closely with senior stakeholders across technology and the business.
What You'll Be Doing
• Owning and driving the BI and analytics strategy across a complex enterprise environment
• Leading the evolution from tactical reporting to product-led, enterprise-scale BI
• Designing and implementing semantic models and reusable reporting frameworks
• Creating a self-service analytics capability that empowers business users whilst maintaining governance and control
• Establishing reporting standards, KPI definitions, and data quality frameworks
• Acting as the key link between business stakeholders, data engineering teams, and architecture functions
• Leading and mentoring BI professionals, helping build a high-performing analytics capability
What Success Looks Like
• Enterprise reporting built on governed semantic models rather than siloed reports
• Trusted, consistent KPIs and business metrics across the organisation
• Greater adoption of self-service analytics and reduced dependency on ad-hoc reporting
• Faster access to meaningful insight that supports better decision-making
• A scalable BI operating model capable of supporting future growth
What We're Looking For
• Experience leading BI or reporting functions within large-scale data transformation programmes
• Strong understanding of modern BI architecture, semantic modelling, and self-service analytics
• Deep expertise with Power BI, Microsoft Fabric, and data modelling best practices
• Knowledge of modern data platforms and medallion architectures (Bronze / Silver / Gold)
• Experience implementing governance frameworks covering metrics, reporting standards, and business definitions
• Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence senior leadership teams
If you're passionate about building modern analytics capabilities rather than simply delivering reports, this is an opportunity to shape how data is consumed across an entire organisation.
