Role description
🚀 Data Analyst / Data Modeler – Contract – Outside IR35
📍 Fully Remote (UK-based)
💰 £550–£600 per day
📅 Initial 3 months (high likelihood of 6+ months)
🚀 Start: ASAP (early July)
🐾 Exciting Opportunity in Data, Knowledge Graphs & Veterinary Tech
I’m working with a leading pet insurance & veterinary services organisation on a high-profile data initiative and they’re looking for a hands-on Data Analyst / Modeler to help shape the future of their UK and European data strategy.
This is a rare chance to work with a pre-built US veterinary ontology (covering conditions, treatments, and pharmaceuticals) and assess how it can be adapted for the UK market.
You’ll play a key role in determining whether this model can become the foundation of a long-term, strategic data solution.
🔍 What You’ll Be Doing
• Deep-diving into a complex graph-based veterinary dataset
• Analysing and validating how a US ontology maps to UK requirements
• Identifying gaps, inconsistencies, and localisation needs
• Acting as the bridge between technical teams and veterinary experts (UK & US)
• Performing semantic/search-based analysis across graph & relational data
• Supporting data modelling decisions that will shape the future architecture
👉 Expect a split of roughly 70% analysis / 30% modelling
✅ Must-Have Experience
• Strong, hands-on data analysis skills
• Experience with Neo4j / graph databases
• Solid understanding of ontologies, taxonomies, and data modelling
• Strong SQL
• Excellent communication — able to translate between technical & clinical audiences
• Comfort diving into unfamiliar domains (medical/veterinary concepts)
⭐ Nice to Have
• Cypher / GraphQL or similar
• Experience with knowledge graphs or semantic models
• Exposure to medical, pharmaceutical, or insurance data
• Comfortable working in ambiguous, fast-moving environments
💡 Who This Suits
Someone pragmatic, curious, and proactive happy to:
• Get stuck into data
• Facilitate conversations with experts
• Help define the solution as they go
If you enjoy high-impact work, autonomy, and solving complex data problems, this role is for you.
