Role description
Chief AI Architect β Lead the "Golden Path" for National GenAI Integration (AI Platform Engineering Lead)
Location: Lanham, MD & Washington D.C. (In-Person Hub)
Status: Full-Time
Clearance: Ability to obtain an Agency-Specific Moderate Background Investigation (MBI)
THE MISSION: "Trailblazer, Gritty, Doing the Work!"
Are you a visionary technologist ready to command the "front door" for Generative AI for the nationβs most critical financial agency? CyberStorm Defense (CSD) is recruiting an elite Chief AI Architect to serve as the senior authority for the Artificial Intelligence (AI) Platform Engineering mission.
This is a high-consequence role requiring Fortune 100 technical rigor to secure a platform serving 275 million taxpayers. You will not just be an advisor; you will be the primary designer of an enterprise-scale AI ecosystem that eliminates vendor lock-in and establishes the foundational security guardrails for a cloud-agnostic future.
THE TASK AT HAND: ARCHITECTING THE AI "GOLDEN PATH"
You will lead the engineering efforts for Task 3 (AI Platform Engineering), ensuring that no GenAI solution is promoted to production without passing surgical evaluation and governance gates.
Key Objectives:
The AI Workbench: Design and operationalize the enterprise GenAI IDE (AI Workbench) to enable secure experimentation and productionization of AI solutions.
Mandatory AI Gateway: Architect and operate the centralized "Front Door" for all GenAI traffic, enforcing observability, rate limiting, and safety triggers.
LLMOps Operationalization: Implement automated evaluation harnesses for grounding checks, accuracy, and hallucination detection integrated directly into CI/CD pipelines.
Responsible AI Governance: Operationalize AI oversight policies as code, ensuring 100% of high-risk use cases are approved through automated workflows.
Model Control Plane (MCP): Build the Model Control Plane to manage versioning, prompt lineage, and failover mechanisms across AWS, Azure, and GCP.
NEEDS FROM PERSONNEL: MANDATORY QUALIFICATIONS
Do not apply if you do not meet 100% of these mandates. This role requires a leader who understands the "how" as well as the "why":
7-Year Threshold: You must have a minimum of 7 years of experience in AI/ML platform engineering.
GenAI Pedigree: Proven experience deploying production-grade Generative AI solutions in regulated (Federal or Financial) environments.
Security Mastery: Deep knowledge of AI security risks, including prompt injection detection, input/output sanitization, and PII filtering.
Compliance Rigor: Documented success navigating FISMA, NIST RMF (800-53), and Zero Trust Architecture principles.
SURGICAL TECHNICAL STACK
To exceed the "Excellent" evaluation standard, you must demonstrate proficiency in:
Infrastructure-as-Code: Expertise in Terraform for deploying model inference infrastructure and vector database services.
Observability: Implementing OpenTelemetry (OTel) for distributed tracing and integrating AI logs with enterprise SIEM.
Patterns: Mastery of Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) and agent-based workflows with restricted tool usage.
Identity: SSO and SSO integration with BEARS/PUMAS entitlements to establish least-privilege access.
WHY JOIN THE STRIKE FORCE (WHY CSD)?
CyberStorm Defense is an emerging technical government contracting firm and a Certified Small Business. We invest in the "Trailblazers" who do the work:
Rapid Career Growth: As a fast-growing firm, you will have a seat at the table to define the technical future of federal AI while enjoying the agility of a small business.
Professional Growth Fund: A dedicated annual budget for you to pursue advanced AI/Cloud certifications and attend top-tier technical summits.
Mission Impact: You will lead the transition logic that retires legacy code and defines the future of AI-enhanced networks for the United States government.
If you are a gritty technical authority ready to secure the nationβs AI frontier and deliver 100% client satisfaction, apply now. If you are looking for a standard management role, this is not it.
Job Types: Full-time, Contract
Pay: $150,000.00 - $180,000.00 per year
Benefits:

Health insurance
Vision insurance
