Cloud Data Engineer

Title: Senior Data Engineer Location: Smithfield, RI (Onsite/Hybrid) Special Instructions: MUST HAVE: Mix of Data Engineer and Cloud Engineer skills. Strong in Azure (Data Factory), PL/SQL, SQL Tuning, and Python. Job Description We are seeking a Senior Data Engineer to join our technical team and contribute to the evolution of a large-scale recordkeeping system. This role blends deep expertise in data engineering, cloud technologies, and development to design, build, and optimize data-centric capabilities. Responsibilities • Act as a technical leader driving define, build, and prove cycles. • Collaborate with architects, cloud engineers, and operations teams to deliver resilient data solutions. • Design and implement ETL strategies, pipelines, and data workflows using Azure Data Factory and related services. • Write and optimize complex SQL queries (PL/SQL) for performance and scalability. • Ensure resiliency, stability, and performance of large-scale data systems. • Mentor and coach junior data engineering team members. • Contribute to system design, development, and optimization in cloud and distributed environments. Required Skills & Experience • Bachelor’s degree and 10+ years of hands-on experience in Data & Cloud Engineering. • Strong expertise in Oracle PL/SQL and SQL performance tuning. • Hands-on experience with Azure cloud services (Data Factory, Storage, etc.). • Proficiency in Python and shell scripting. • Solid understanding of ETL design and development. • Experience with large data sets and distributed systems. • Strong knowledge of Linux environments. • Excellent communication and collaboration skills. • Financial services experience is a plus. • Familiarity with distributed application development (Java, .NET, Python) is a plus.
