Pay: 55-70/hr
We are seeking a Senior Cloud Database Engineer to support a diverse fleet of public sector and enterprise customers as part of a DAR (Database as a Resource) contract. This is a hands-on role combining traditional database administration with modern cloud platform management, focusing on operational excellence, customer support, and proactive performance optimization in a 24x7 production environment.
Key Responsibilities:
β’ Administer, monitor, and optimize Microsoft SQL Server and MySQL databases in cloud environments (Azure, AWS, OCI, GCP)
β’ Manage serverless cloud databases (e.g., AWS RDS), ensuring availability, performance, and reliability
β’ Lead and support cloud database operations including migrations, configuration, capacity planning, and performance tuning
β’ Respond to and process database-related service tickets via ServiceNow, partnering directly with customers to ensure system health
β’ Design and support HA/DR strategies across hybrid and multi-cloud platforms
β’ Develop and maintain automation, monitoring, and documentation using Infrastructure as Code principles
β’ Collaborate with engineering and support teams on escalations and continuous improvement initiatives
β’ Author and maintain SOPs, root cause analysis (RCA) reports, and operational playbooks
β’ Ensure compliance with government and internal security standards (CJIS, ITIL, etc.)
Required Qualifications:
β’ 3+ years of direct database administration experience (MS SQL required, MySQL preferred)
β’ 5+ years total IT experience, including 1β2 years supporting databases in cloud environments
β’ Experience managing and administering databases in Azure or AWS
β’ Familiarity with ITIL processes and working within ServiceNow or similar ticketing systems
β’ Ability to work Central Time Zone hours, and eligible to obtain CJIS clearance
Preferred Qualifications:
β’ Public sector/government client experience
β’ Exposure to multi-cloud environments including GCP and Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI)
β’ Experience managing RDS or similar serverless database services
