Role description
Job SummaryWe are seeking a highly skilled Cloud DevOps Engineer to join our dynamic IT team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining cloud infrastructure and deployment pipelines across multiple cloud platforms. This role requires expertise in cloud architecture, virtualization, automation, and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) practices. The successful candidate will collaborate with development teams to ensure scalable, reliable, and secure cloud solutions that support our web services, SaaS, PaaS, and microservices architecture. Duties Design and implement scalable cloud infrastructure solutions utilizing platforms such as AWS, Google Cloud Platform, Azure, OpenStack, VMware, Rackspace, and Citrix. Develop and maintain automation scripts using tools like Terraform, Ansible, Chef, Puppet, PowerShell, Bash, and Shell Scripting to streamline deployment processes. Manage containerization technologies including Docker and Kubernetes to support microservices architecture. Implement system hardening and security best practices across cloud environments to ensure compliance and data protection. Develop and optimize RESTful APIs for seamless integration of web services and applications. Monitor system performance and availability; troubleshoot issues related to cloud infrastructure, virtualization, or application deployment. Collaborate with software development teams following Agile methodologies to support continuous integration (CI) and continuous delivery (CD) pipelines using Jenkins or similar tools. Maintain documentation of system configurations, architecture diagrams, and operational procedures for compliance and knowledge sharing. Support database management tasks involving MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server with focus on performance tuning and data security. Participate in system capacity planning and disaster recovery planning to ensure high availability of services. Requirements Proven experience with cloud computing platforms such as AWS, Google Cloud Platform, Azure; familiarity with OpenStack, VMware, Rackspace is a plus. Strong understanding of cloud architecture principles including IaaS, PaaS, SaaS models; expertise in virtualization technologies like VMware and Docker containers. Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python, Ruby on Rails, PowerShell, Bash; experience with automation tools like Terraform, Ansible, Chef, Puppet is essential. Hands-on experience with web services development using RESTful APIs; knowledge of microservices architecture is highly desirable. Familiarity with operating systems including Linux (Ubuntu/CentOS), Windows Server; experience with system hardening and security best practices. Knowledge of network security protocols including VPNs; experience managing network devices such as Meraki is advantageous. Experience working within Agile SDLC environments; familiarity with CI/CD tools like Jenkins or equivalent for automated deployments. Strong understanding of database management systems including MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle; ability to optimize queries and manage database security. Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex infrastructure issues efficiently.
