Senior Cloud Data Engineer: SSIS Migration to Cloud-Native Airflow (MA Local Required) We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Cloud DBA/ETL–ELT Data Pipeline Engineer to lead a multi-year data modernization initiative for a major State Government Agency. This hybrid role requires an expert to optimize cloud databases and lead the crucial migration of legacy SSIS ETL processes to a modern SQL + Apache Airflow solution. Core Responsibilities & Technical Focus • ETL Migration Leadership: Re-engineer and lead the migration of existing SSIS ETL code into new, robust, cloud-native SQL-based pipelines integrated with Apache Airflow. • Cloud Database Optimization: Design, manage, and perform query optimization and performance tuning on cloud-native databases (Oracle RDS, Aurora, PostgreSQL, Snowflake). • Data Pipeline Development: Build Airflow workflows, DAGs, and scheduling logic to manage complex data dependencies and versioned deployments. • Compliance & Governance: Implement cloud governance, data masking, and auditing aligned with FERPA/PII policies and security standards. • DevOps: Conduct unit tests, code reviews, maintain GitHub repositories, and work through assigned Jira tasks in an Agile environment. • Performance: Benchmark new cloud solutions against legacy on-prem performance metrics. Required Skills & Experience • Expertise in Cloud DBA functions (Performance, scaling, replication, access controls). • Mandatory experience with SSIS and clear ability to re-engineer/migrate legacy SSIS logic. • Mandatory experience with Apache Airflow for workflow automation. • Strong hands-on experience with Snowflake or other modern cloud data warehouses. • Proficiency in complex SQL and scripting. • Strong preference for candidates with State Government or other Public Sector experience.
