Job Overview:
We are seeking a Senior Cloud Security Consultant with deep expertise in Microsoft Azure, M365 security, and enterprise security practices to join a government client in Trenton, NJ. This is a hybrid role requiring local candidates who can work onsite when needed.
This is not a task-oriented or ticket-handling roleβour client is looking for a strategic advisor and hands-on expert who can evaluate the existing security posture, recommend best practices, guide internal teams, and advise IT leadership on improvements, particularly in the areas of monitoring, data loss prevention (DLP), and cloud security governance.
Key Responsibilities:
β’ Conduct comprehensive security assessments across Azure and Microsoft 365 environments.
β’ Analyze and document the current cloud and on-prem security configurations.
β’ Recommend and implement best practices for M365, Azure, and Windows environments.
β’ Advise the IT Director and management team on security strategy and risk mitigation.
β’ Focus on data loss prevention, endpoint protection, and cloud monitoring.
β’ Assist in improving and automating patching, logging, and alerting mechanisms.
β’ Collaborate with IT systems teams, vendors, and support staff to coordinate security efforts.
β’ Provide hands-on configuration and tuning for Microsoft security solutions.
β’ Generate security reports using both native Microsoft tools and 3rd party platforms (e.g., Nagios, Tenable).
Required Skills & Experience:
β’ 12+ years of experience in:
β’ Security assessments and best practices on Azure & Microsoft 365
β’ Windows 11 desktop security assessments
β’ Office 365 Data Loss Protection (DLP)
β’ Windows Defender Advanced Threat Protection
β’ Remote desktop patching and monitoring
β’ Microsoft Cloud monitoring and logging
β’ Server patch maintenance
β’ Familiarity with tools like Nagios, Tenable, or similar
β’ Microsoft cloud and on-prem security administration
β’ Interfacing with IT management, systems teams, and end users
