• Job Summary
The Senior Cloud Engineer leads the design, maintenance, transition to, and operations of cloud platforms. The Engineer collaborates with stakeholders to obtain and translate business requirements into technical implementations and provides guidance to technical teams regarding architectural and procedural best practices and functional experience.
This position is considered advanced level and performs work of moderate to high complexity. The incumbent works under general supervision and may lead some efforts autonomously. This position does not have any direct reports but may lead or mentor junior staff.
Responsibilities
• Lead the technical design, maintenance, and operation of cloud-based platforms.
• Drive automation efforts to minimize manual work and ensure transparency in all aspects of the secure cloud ecosystem.
• Implement hybrid IT by integrating different cloud services with back-end, traditional data center services.
• Migrate legacy applications to public cloud services using rehosting or revising approaches for efficiency, agility, and disaster recovery.
• Partner with stakeholders to obtain and translate requirements into technical implementations.
• Integrate existing legacy systems with proposed systems by identifying gaps between the current and future state.
• Oversee and develop continuous delivery frameworks and tools.
• Develop testing use cases and detailed testing plans that map to documented business and technical requirements.
• Lead technical and end-user resources to execute detailed tests and analyze results.
• Assist with implementation of customer-side monitoring tools and lead operational outage events as needed.
• Provide timely and responsive technical support, including rotational on-call support.
Education and Experience
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent background or experience.
• Minimum of three years of relevant work experience.
Skills Required
• Experience integrating legacy platforms and applications with cloud-based systems.
• Advanced understanding of infrastructure as code tools.
• Advanced knowledge of system configuration tools.
• Experience implementing architectural frameworks.
• Advanced experience with source code management tools.
• Advanced experience with CI/build tools.
• Proficiency in various programming languages.
• Experience with Web Services, API, REST, and RPC.
• Experience deploying, managing, operating, and monitoring applications in scalable, highly available, and fault-tolerant data centers (on-premise and hosted).
• Understanding of scripting.
