Glaxo Smith Kline - GCP Cloud Engineer Location: REMOTE core business EST hours Monday - Friday (No PST) Compensation: $150k-220k Start Date: 1/1/2026 Duration: 12+ Months Ongoing Contract (w2 contract with options to extend or convert to FTE - NO c2c) β€’ Candidates must have previous cloud engineering experience in GCP, Python, and Onyx GCP and also designing, scaling, engineering code within workflows β€’ Must Haves: β€’ 6+ years of hands-on engineering experience (ability to design and implement scalable, secure, and efficient systems) β€’ Technical Stack - Python, BigQuery, Cloud Run, Onyx GCP. β€’ Ability to lead in a consultative role and drive greenfield builds. β€’ Experience with pipeline pilots, analytics, and green systems. β€’ Background designing, scaling, and engineering code within workflows Nice to Have β€’ Cheminformatics experience β€’ Pharmaceutical experience β€’ Experience scaling generative design systems. β€’ Familiarity with AIPL, OBatch, SLURM, and Azure environments. β€’ Previous work with scientific or small molecule design projects. β€’ Familiarity with HPC environments (SLURM – on-prem) and cloud solutions (Azure) Role Overview A large pharmaceutical company is seeking a Senior Cloud Engineer who can operate at the intersection of scientific research and cloud infrastructure, with strong technical expertise and the ability to communicate effectively with scientists. This role will focus on migrating and optimizing scientific workflows, managing cloud operations, and contributing to data pipeline improvements for production systems. Key Responsibilities β€’ Workflow Migration & Optimization: β€’ Migrate β€œTrajectories Monitor” draft code into the β€œQSAR Monitor” production system. β€’ Review and simplify the use of Onyx data pipeline constructs within QSAR Monitor. β€’ Cloud & DevOps Operations: β€’ Manage deployments using Cloud Run and GCP services. β€’ Implement best practices for DevOps, CI/CD, and infrastructure automation. β€’ Scientific Collaboration: β€’ Engage with scientists to understand research workflows and translate them into scalable cloud solutions. β€’ Communicate with empathy and humility, building trust and fostering collaboration. β€’ Resource & Project Support: β€’ Assist project managers with resource planning (bench management, resumes, team deployment). Contribute to strategic delivery in Q1/Q2, then pivot to other projects as needed
