Role description
TLT Inc. is an electronic health records (EHR) application technology startup seeking proposals from qualified Amazon Web Services (AWS) consulting and engineering firms to architect, develop, and deploy a scalable and secure API backend using AWS. The API must support ingestion and data display for a cross-platform mobile application (Android/Java and iOS/Swift). 1. Project Overview We aim to build a serverless, microservices-based backend to support mobile interactions, including but not limited to: - Real-time and asynchronous data ingestion - Dynamic content rendering - Secure user session and identity management - Audit logging and monitoring 1. Scope of Work The awarded vendor will be responsible for the following: 3.1 API Development - Develop RESTful APIs using AWS API Gateway and AWS Lambda (Node.js and Python) - Implement CRUD operations for structured and semi-structured data - Ensure endpoints are optimized for mobile latency 3.2 Data Management - Integrate AWS DocumentDB for semi-structured data (JSON) - Integrate DynamoDB for real-time key-value data requirements - Establish indexing, partitioning, and backup strategies 3.3 Infrastructure and Security - Provision a secured VPC with subnets across two Availability Zones - Use EC2 for any long-lived services not suited for Lambda - Store all static assets (media, docs, config) in Amazon S3 - Enforce IAM policies for least privilege - Integrate AWS Firewall Manager and AWS WAF for API protection 3.4 Monitoring and Logging - Use Amazon CloudWatch for: - Real-time log aggregation - API usage metrics - Custom alarms and health checks 3.5 CI/CD & Deployment - Implement CI/CD using AWS CodePipeline or GitHub Actions - Define Infrastructure as Code via AWS CloudFormation or Terraform - Set up blue/green deployment for Lambda-based APIs 3.6 Identity & Access Management - Implement user authentication and authorization using Amazon Cognito - Enable Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) - Allow federated identity logins via Google/Apple for mobile apps 3.7 Mobile Integration - Return mobile-ready JSON payloads with optimized structure - Handle token validation and session timeout strategies - Provide API versioning and documentation (Swagger/OpenAPI) 3.8 DevOps and Observability - Setup centralized dashboard (CloudWatch or third-party like Datadog) - Maintain audit trails (via CloudTrail) - Provide monthly availability and performance reports 1. Proposal Requirements All responses must include the following: - Company background and AWS certifications - List of similar implementations with client references - Technical approach to the project - Development methodology and delivery milestones - Cost structure (fixed price or milestone-based) - Estimated timeline - Team structure and bios - Maintenance & support options post-deployment 1. Evaluation Criteria Proposals will be evaluated based on: - Technical competence and AWS expertise (30%) - Implementation experience and portfolio (25%) - Project cost (15%) - Security and compliance approach (15%) - Post-launch support and scalability planning (15%) 1. Proposal Submission Deadline for Submissions: TBD Email To: info@thelasttaboo.com Subject Line: "RFP Submission: TLT-AWS-API-06-2025-01" 1. Timeline - RFP Issuance: 3 June 2025 - Final Questions Due: 17 June 2025 - Proposal Submission Deadline: 24 June 20225 - Vendor Selection: TBD - Project Kickoff: TBD
