Contract Position Overview The Senior Infrastructure Engineer is a critical technical leader responsible for building, automating, and supporting advanced infrastructure engineering platforms. This role delivers hands-on engineering expertise cross-functionally for strategic projects and ongoing product lifecycle support, focusing on environments built on IBM AIX, Red Hat Enterprise Linux, and the Microsoft Windows Server ecosystem. The engineer will actively and strategically contribute to the design, build, implementation, and automation of infrastructure solutions spanning on-premise private environments and third-party colocation (hosted) data centers. Qualifications
Proven ability to build, support deployment of customer workloads on-premise, private cloud, and collocated data center environments. Strong understanding of networking principles including IP addressing, VIPs, LTM flows, network boundaries, and Cisco ACI with knowledge of zero trust micro-segmentation. Experience with enterprise technologies such as i.e. virtualization platform VMware, data redundancy and reliability GPFS, storage LUNs. Hands-on experience with infrastructure automation tools such as Ansible, Terraform, PowerShell, or shell scripting. Demonstrated experience applying Agile or SRE practices to modernize infrastructure delivery and enhance system reliability. This position emphasizes Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) delivery squad, and Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) build practices, and robust integration of applications, services, and data platforms. This team member will ensure resilient, secure, and scalable systems critical line of business. Responsibilities
Provide technical leadership and coordination for the build and implementation of infrastructure in support of customers and National IT demands. Partner with other National IT areas to drive efforts required to reduce infrastructure build cycle times. Serve as a core technical build engineer delivering infrastructure solutions through well-defined architectural frameworks and standardized build patterns, aligning with organizational policies, security standards, and operational readiness requirements. Leverage ServiceNow and related automation platform to streamline infrastructure build workflows, change management, and operational support. Implement, and maintain automated deployment and configuration solutions for hybrid infrastructure environments ensuring their lifecycle and appropriate. Develop and maintain detailed infrastructure connectivity and build plans covering installation, configuration, operational readiness, and production cutover. Contribute to program increment (PI) planning as a key member of agile squads, driving standardization and automation to support reliable delivery. Strategically design and develop scripts and tooling for infrastructure provisioning, configuration management, monitoring, and troubleshooting. Collaborate closely and cross-functionally with application development, security, network, and engineering teams to ensure seamless solution delivery and support.
