Role description
Location: Sleepy Hollow, New York (Minimum 3 days/week on-site)
Duration: 1 year ongoing contract
Reason Open: Brand New Opening
Position Overview
The Commercial IT Data Analyst will be a key supporting partner to the Commercial IT team and the underlying data infrastructure. This role is focused on ensuring that high-quality, governed data (including customer, promotional and HCP engagement information) is readily available, accurately managed, and structured for advanced analytical modeling. We are looking for candidates with strong foundational data skills and an enthusiasm for tackling complex data challenges. The specialist will help maintain data governance, data pipeline health, and learn to apply the stringent privacy requirements of pharmaceutical marketing (e.g., HIPAA, CCPA) on the job .
Key Responsibilities
Data Enablement and Pipeline Health (80%)
The specialist will contribute to core data functionality, starting with Data Preparation & Feature Engineering where they will collaborate with Data Scientists to identify, extract, and transform raw marketing (from multiple sources and formats) data into high-value features for analytical models and segmentation strategies. Regarding Data Quality & Governance, they will assist in developing and maintaining automated data quality checks, reconciliation processes, and audit trails for all critical marketing data sources (e.g., Veeva, Claims, email, web, owned and 3rd party Digital Engagement), helping to flag and resolve data inconsistencies. For Pipeline Management, they will support the operation and troubleshooting of data ingestion, processing, and consumption pipelines within the Cloud Data Platform (e.g., Snowflake, Azure, GCP, Salesforce), utilizing SQL, Python, and ETL/ELT tools. Finally, Data Documentation requires contributing to comprehensive and up-to-date documentation, including metadata, data dictionaries, and data lineage maps, for all data assets consumed by the team.
Cross-Functional Orchestration & Compliance (20%)
Under the direct guidance of the Commercial IT Lead, this role serves as the essential technical bridge and liaison across the organization and with external partners. Cross-Functional Alignment requires the specialist to partner with Marketing/Brand teams, CX/Omnichannel OPS, Insights & Analytics (I&A), Commercial IT, and IT Infrastructure to understand business needs, translate requirements into technical specifications, and ensure end-to-end data integrity. Critically, the specialist will support the day-to-day data and technical work with our Partner Managed Service Provider (MSP). This includes ensuring accurate requirements capture, rigorous documentation within the Alation data catalog, and verifying their deliverables meet quality standards and align with internal architecture. In terms of Privacy & Compliance, the specialist will learn and apply standards to ensure all data handling, storage, and processing practices adhere strictly to internal compliance policies and external regulations (e.g., de-identification, access controls). Lastly, for System Integration Support, they will assist with the integration of new marketing technology products (like Salesforce Marketing Cloud or CDP/Data Cloud) by verifying data flows and ensuring proper structure for downstream analytics.
Required Qualifications
Technical & Platform Proficiency
Candidates must demonstrate Strong SQL Proficiency, possessing solid capability in writing efficient SQL queries for data extraction and manipulation, ideally within a cloud-native environment (Snowflake preferred). Programming proficiency (Python or R) is necessary for data analysis and scripting tasks. For Platform Ecosystem Expertise, direct, hands-on experience supporting data pipelines and governance is required, demonstrating expertise in at least one of our key platforms (e.g., Salesforce Data Cloud, Dataiku, Databricks, and Snowflake), or other major Customer Data Platforms (CDPs). They should also have a good foundational understanding of Data Warehousing concepts, ETL/ELT methodologies, and dimensional modeling. Cloud Familiarity is highly valued, showing familiarity with a major cloud provider (AWS, Azure, or GCP) environment.
