About The Role
We are seeking a skilled Business Analyst for a full-time, 6-month (with the opportunity to extend) 1099 contract.
The Business Analyst (BA) in our SDLC team will be pivotal in translating complex policies and business requirements into detailed software requirements for program teams using Salesforce and related tools. This role bridges the gap between business needs and technical solutions, driving process improvements and ensuring software products align with organizational goals and policies. Additionally, the BA will mentor and manage analysts, collaborating with stakeholders to develop strategic recommendations and strengthen relationships throughout project planning and execution.
The BA will work closely with internal stakeholders, including program teams, developers, QA teams, and project managers, to gather and analyze requirements. The BA will create precise software documentation to guide development and facilitate user acceptance sessions, training, and demos. By providing vital insights and fostering strong stakeholder relationships, the BA will ensure successful project execution, delivering high-quality software solutions that meet the evolving needs of our clients and stakeholders.
CALSTART values transparency and strives to provide as much information regarding compensation as possible. The rate for this 1099 contract position is $50 per hour.
This is a 40 hour per week contract position with the possibility to extend as well as convert to full time if the needs arise.
What Youβll Do
β’ Analyze and Improve Processes: Analyze policy, data, and metrics to identify bottlenecks and inefficiencies, propose improvement initiatives, and track implementation progress.
β’ Identify opportunities for enhancing the SDLC, such as automating manual processes or optimizing workflows.
β’ Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure successful integration of process improvements.
β’ Requirements Gathering and Documentation: Conduct in-depth interviews with stakeholders to document complex policies and business requirements.
β’ Facilitate workshops and brainstorming sessions to gather insights and foster collaboration among program teams.
β’ Create and maintain detailed process flow diagrams and requirement specifications.
β’ Prioritize fostering a diverse and inclusive work environment. You will ensure that all business processes and system developments consider diversity, equity, and inclusion principles.
β’ Stakeholder Coordination: Establish strong relationships with program teams, developers, QA teams, and project managers to ensure a shared understanding of project goals.
β’ Coordinate with clients and external partners to understand needs, provide updates, and address concerns throughout the project lifecycle.
β’ Handle communication and conflict resolution to maintain a positive and productive working environment.
β’ Support Development and Testing: Translate business requirements into actionable software specifications in collaboration with the development team.
β’ Assist in developing user stories, acceptance criteria, and test cases for comprehensive testing.
β’ Support the QA team during testing, participate in defect triage, and validate that software meets business requirements.
What Youβll Bring To The Table
β’ 7+ years as a Business Analyst or similar role in software development or IT.
β’ Proven ability to translate complex business requirements into detailed software specifications.
β’ Strong understanding of SDLC and experience with Salesforce products or related SaaS tools. Experience with project and task management software, Jira preferred.
β’ Leadership and Mentoring: Experience mentoring analysts and ensuring high-quality deliverables.
β’ Skilled in training sessions and software demonstrations for various stakeholders.
β’ Technical and Analytical Skills: Proficiency in data analysis for decision-making and process improvements.
β’ Strong analytical skills to solve complex business challenges. Knowledge of business analysis methodologies and best practices.
β’ User-Centered Design: Understanding of user-centered design principles for software requirements.
β’ Collaboration and Communication: Experience working with cross-functional teams to achieve project goals.
β’ Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for managing stakeholders.
β’ Education and Certification: Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field desired
β’ Industry certifications in business analysis and Salesforce (e.g., CBAP, PMI-PBA) are highly valued.
