The Role
The Credit Risk Data Manager plays a pivotal role in leading the stewardship and governance of all Credit Risk data. This includes designing and developing the data infrastructure and processes that empower the Credit Risk function to effectively analyse, monitor, and innovate risk strategies. By ensuring robust data foundations, the role supports safe and sound decision-making across the customer lifecycle—balancing risk and reward to drive profitable growth while maintaining responsible lending practices. Collaborating closely with IT, Data & Analytics, and Credit Risk teams, the Credit Risk Data Manager defines requirements, resolves issues, and delivers scalable, high-quality data and reporting solutions that underpin strategic insight and implementation.
As a Credit Risk Data Manager, you will:
Own and manage the Credit Risk Data Governance RCSA, ensuring effective controls and appropriate risk ratings, while prioritising governance efforts and promoting data ownership across the Credit Risk function. Lead the adoption of
generation tools to reduce reporting, analytics and scorecard development time
Work with the business data architects to ensure that Credit Risk data is fit for purpose, optimised for analytical work with new data sources are integrated as required.
Lead the definition of the scope for new data initiatives and data definitions.
Lead relationships with key 3rd party suppliers to deliver best in class data to support the strategic business plans.
Act as SME on business projects to ensure Credit Risk & Analytics data needs are met, while authorising data access requests to maintain appropriate and necessary access controls.
Lead the development of reporting systems to monitor the financial risks associated with the business model, in the form of period management and credit committee reports
Responsible for ensuring Records Retention schedules are adhered to and data moved/deleted as appropriate. Where this is a challenge, responsible for ensuring the Head of Data Governance is aware of any issues.
Drives the investigation and resolution process for data quality issues, including process changes where appropriate.
Champions and supports Data Privacy activities across Credit Risk, including but not limited to completing DPIAs (and identifying where required) and identifying and reporting personal data breaches. Acting as the risk delegate were allocated in the RCSA for Data Protection risks and controls
What We’re Looking For
3+ years’ analytical experience with a range of data mining tools and handling large volumes of data.
Expert in use of SQL/SAS and other technical analytic tools
Experience with Snowflake or Power Bi is beneficial
Strong ability to interpret complex data, prioritise actions, and assess change impact and risk.
Exceptional quantitative skills, with a strong foundation in, or significant exposure to, credit analytics.
Strategic thinker with outstanding attention to detail.
Skilled in influencing and challenging constructively, with strong communication and the ability to identify issues, propose solutions, and engage effectively at all levels.
Experience of working in a dynamic, fast paced and quickly evolving environment.
