Context
A data analyst is needed in various contexts where data can play a crucial role in decision-making, problem-solving, business insight and performance optimisation.
Main Purpose of job
To collect, analyse, and interpret data to help inform business decisions, creating reports and visualisations, identifying trends and patterns, and collaborating with stakeholders to understand their data needs.
This role will assist Amgueddfa Cymru in making key data based decisions, and communicating results against objectives and project goals for a wide range of disciplines, supporting the wider Commercial Platforms team and encouraging a shift in culture for the organisation.
Key Responsibilities
• Gather data from various sources, such as databases, spreadsheets, APIs, our CRM, ePoS and external sources and platforms
• Clean and prepare data for analysis by identifying and correcting errors, handling missing data, and ensuring data quality. Bring together our datasets, breaking down data silos
• Apply statistical techniques and data mining algorithms to analyse datasets, identify trends, correlations, and patterns, and derive actionable insights.
• Co-ordinate evaluation and analysis reports for key projects and objectives, identifying success and areas for improvement
• Create clear and informative visualisations, such as charts, graphs, and dashboards, to present findings and communicate insights to stakeholders.
• Provide key analysis and reporting of Marketing campaigns and Brand Awareness performance
• Generate reports summarising results, user research, and recommendations in a clear and concise manner for decision-makers.
• Collaborating with cross-functional teams, including business partners, heads-of department, and Senior Executive Team, to understand the organisational requirements, address data-related challenges, and support decision-making processes.
• Adhering to data governance policies and best practices to ensure data security, privacy, and compliance with regulations.
• Through Business Intelligence (BI), extract insights from operational data, sales data, visitor data, and other sources to drive strategic decisions, improve efficiency, and optimise business processes.
• Align to the Digital, Data and Technology (DDaT) Strategy, and take ownership of actions related to our Data and BI ambitions for Amgueddfa Cymru.
Commercial responsibility: every member of staff has responsibility for the commercial success of Amgueddfa Cymru.
Data should drive strategic decisions, improve efficiency, and optimise business processes. By analysing customer behaviour, visitor trends, and sales performance data, this role will identify opportunities for targeting our customers, optimise our offering, and strengthen our income strategy.

• Experience with methods of qualitative user research, including surveys, in-person user testing, and user research tools such as Audience Finder, Wordfly and Survey Monkey
• An understanding of querying languages, such as SQL for advanced data queries
