Role description
BLOC Resources is seeking a skilled and highly analytical Data Analyst 2 to support the Operations Data Analytics team at The Energy Center. This mid-level position is designed for a data professional who can work with complex datasets, troubleshoot data issues, improve data quality, create analytical products, and deliver insights that help drive operational performance. In this role, you will work closely with cross-functional teams across engineering, planning, operations, and business analytics. You will be responsible for collecting and cleaning data, maintaining databases, analyzing trends, identifying patterns, and producing clear, actionable reports that support critical decision-making. The ideal candidate is intellectually curious, detail-oriented, technically capable, and able to turn large volumes of data into meaningful insights. Key Responsibilities Acquire, collect, and extract data from multiple primary and secondary sources such as enterprise databases, operational systems, spreadsheets, APIs, dashboards, and internal applications Maintain, update, and manage data systems, databases, and repositories supporting operational analytics and reporting Perform data cleaning, filtering, formatting, and enrichment by reviewing reports, performance indicators, automated checks, and error logs Troubleshoot and correct data inconsistencies, missing fields, formatting issues, and code-related problems through detailed analysis and collaboration with technical teams Identify, analyze, and interpret trends, patterns, correlations, and anomalies within structured and unstructured datasets Apply statistical methods and analytical techniques to support forecasting, performance monitoring, and operational improvements Generate recurring and ad-hoc reports, dashboards, and presentations summarizing key insights, trends, and performance indicators Work with business stakeholders to identify analytical needs, establish reporting requirements, and deliver high-value data products Support the creation and improvement of data processes, standards, and documentation for analytics and reporting Develop and maintain data dictionaries, lineage tracking, transformation notes, and process documentation Ensure the integrity, accuracy, and consistency of data within reporting environments Participate in cross-functional meetings to present insights, explain analytical findings, and support strategic initiatives with data Assist with the development of new metrics, KPIs, and performance indicators to support operational decision-making Qualifications 3–5 years of professional experience in data analysis, data management, or a similar analytical role Proven experience extracting, cleaning, transforming, and analyzing data from multiple sources Experience using statistical methods to analyze data and support insights Ability to create clear, concise, and insightful reports for technical and non-technical stakeholders Experience working with large datasets and performing complex data manipulation Preferred Skills & Technical Abilities Experience with analytical or scripting tools such as SQL, Python, R, or similar languages Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel (advanced functions, pivot tables, complex formulas, data modeling) Familiarity with data visualization or BI tools (Power BI, Tableau, Qlik, or similar) Understanding of relational database structures and data modeling concepts Experience with operational, engineering, or utility-based datasets is a plus Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to identify root causes and propose effective data solutions Ability to translate complex data findings into clear, actionable recommendations for leadership High level of accuracy and attention to detail when working with large volumes of data Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and adapt to changing business priorities Strong written and verbal communication skills Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while collaborating effectively with a team Data Analyst 2 Company: BLOC Resources Department: Operations Data Analytics Pay Rate: $30.00-$35.00 per hour Work Location: The Energy Center (3535 Colonneade Parkway, Birmingham, AL 35243, United States) Experience Level: Mid-Level (3–5 years) About the Role BLOC Resources is seeking a skilled and highly analytical Data Analyst 2 to support the SCS0814 Operations Data Analytics team at The Energy Center.
