Job Description Criminal Background Check and Drug Test are Required Job Title: Data Analyst Location: Orlando, FL Duration: 6 Months with extension Position DescriptionJob Purpose Responsible for performing routine and ad-hoc analysis to identify actionable business insights, performance gaps, and perform root cause analysis. The Data Analyst will perform in-depth research across a variety of data sources to determine current performance and identify trends and improvement opportunities. Collaborate with leadership, functional business owners, and other personnel to understand friction points in data that cause unnecessary effort and recommend gap closure initiatives to policy, process, and system improvements. Primary Functions • Participate in the creation, validation, and implementation of statistical models. Improve the performance of these models over time to ensure accuracy, statistical confidence, and alignment with business goals. • Identify trends and actionable insights to enable qualitative and quantitative data-driven decisions across the organization. • Recommend, promote, and audit best practices related to data usage, reporting standards, dashboard formats, visualization styles, and analysis methods. • Communicate the significance of statistical findings using business acumen and terminology common to the utilities industry. • Participate in discussions with stakeholders regarding data, analyses, visualizations, conclusions, and recommendations that influence decisions and outcomes. • Conduct deep data analysis, research, and studies related to business discovery use cases. • Collaborate with IT and external consultants regarding data modeling, dimensionality, data granularity, fit-for-use architecture, and overall data governance. • Perform data mining for new business insights, interpret data, draw conclusions, and communicate findings to relevant stakeholders. • Develop a strong understanding of client's data sources, relationships, and best-practice usage. • Lead or participate in troubleshooting and debugging efforts. • Prepare and present visualizations, dashboards, and reporting. • Update data visualizations and dashboards. • Identify and escalate data anomalies that may affect data accuracy. • Verify the integrity of reports, dashboards, and analysis. • Generate scheduled and ad-hoc reports. • Produce documentation related to reporting and analysis development, implementation, and support. • Participate in deep data profiling efforts to understand raw data available for analysis. • Participate in data mining efforts as part of data science or machine learning exercises to identify themes and trends for further analysis. • Identify trends, draw conclusions, and summarize results derived from data analysis to produce actionable business conclusions. • Transform information into actionable insights. • Perform routine research and analysis to identify data trends, anomalies, and insights applicable • Perform other duties as assigned. Skills RequiredTechnical RequirementsWorking Knowledge Of • Processes for leveraging data from data warehouse / data mart / data lake environments • Visualization development using best-in-class analytics tools across multiple data sets • Querying complex data structures and deriving information for reporting, visualization, and statistical analysis • Requirements gathering and analysis • Basic analytics, including: • Data profiling • Data quality analysis • Joining data tables • Graphing • Trend analysis • Data segmentation • Ad-hoc query development for one-time business requests using internal or external data • Report development using best-in-class reporting tools • SQL including: • Selects • Inserts • Updates • Table joins • Grouping • Visualization tools (advanced): • Qlik • Power BI • Cognos • Tableau • Including data preparation, visualization selection, charting (time series, Pareto, bar, area, multi-axis, geospatial, scatter plots), filtering, drill-downs, navigation, and dashboard creation • Excel (advanced) including: • Graphing • Pivot tables • VLOOKUP • Multi-sheet references • Experience with DBMS platforms (Oracle, SQL Server, etc.) to extract and transform data for reporting and analysis. Familiarity With • Data warehouse / OLAP environments including star schema and snowflake schema • Data modeling for transforming OLTP systems into OLAP / data warehouse structures • Data privacy and security standards such as GDPR, PCI, PII, HIPAA • Working with large data sets for data science or machine learning analysis • Dashboard development, including requirements gathering, metrics definition, data sourcing, and dashboard implementation • Project management using MS Project or similar tools (project charter, resource assignments, risks, issues, status tracking) • Query optimization to minimize database impact and improve efficiency • Industry and organizational policies, practices, procedures, legal guidelines, ordinances, and laws • Predictive model development using historic internal and external data with statistical methods • Process flow documentation • Organizational and departmental procedures and policies. Ability To • Apply data quality assurance and troubleshooting techniques during data profiling, analysis, and reporting • Perform data cleansing and transformation to prepare data for analysis • Demonstrate strong analytical ability to identify trends, anomalies, and insights • Deliver advanced presentations using appropriate software and audience-appropriate communication • Work with minimal supervision and operate in a self-directed manner • Communicate effectively in both written and verbal form • Use advanced Microsoft Office tools (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook) • Perform arithmetic computations including ratios, percentages, and statistical calculations • Maintain strong attention to detail • MS Access (preferred): • Relational joins • Data transformation • Filtering • Reporting • Reporting tools (preferred): • Cognos • OBIEE • Crystal Reports Experience Required Education / Certification / Years of Experience • Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Computer Science, Business, or a related field from an accredited college or university • AND • Minimum 3 years of experience in data analytics or a data analyst environment Education Required • Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Computer Science, Business, or a related field from an accredited college or university • AND • Minimum 3 years of experience in data analytics or a data analyst environment
